Construction App Development Manchester

We build construction site apps for contractors, subcontractors and developers working in Manchester and across the North West. Site teams handle inductions, sign-in, RAMS sign-off, permits, snagging and diaries on a phone or tablet, even without signal, and the office stops retyping paper forms.

Replacing the site clipboard with an app that works on site

Paper on site gets wet, lost or filled in at the end of the week by memory. When someone later asks who was inducted or when a defect was raised, the answer is buried in a cabin. A site app captures each record as it happens, with a name, time and often a photo.

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 place duties on clients, designers and contractors to plan, manage and record health and safety. An app does not make you compliant on its own, but it makes record keeping easier: inductions, sign-in, RAMS acknowledgement, permits, plant checks and toolbox talks sit in one searchable log. We set this up in line with published guidance, and you should take advice on your own duties.

Basements and new frames often have no signal, so the app works offline and syncs later. Buttons suit gloved hands and screens stay readable in bright sun. Data flows back through an app backend to the office dashboard.

Who uses our site apps

We build for firms that run sites and those working on them.

  • Main contractors needing inductions and sign-in across several live sites.
  • Groundworks and civils firms logging plant checks and excavation permits.
  • Fit-out and refurbishment contractors tracking snagging room by room.
  • Specialist subcontractors who must evidence RAMS briefings to the principal contractor.
  • Maintenance contractors moving between short jobs, who may also need a field service app.

Our route to a working site app

1

Walk the site with us

We spend time on a live site to see where paper slows things down.

2

Collect your forms

We turn your induction, permit, RAMS, plant check and diary templates into digital forms with the same questions.

3

Design for gloves and glare

Screens are tested outdoors with gloves on.

4

Build offline first

We build the app to store records on the device and sync when signal returns.

5

Trial then roll out

One site runs the app alongside paper first; then we train site managers, who brief operatives at a toolbox talk.

What the app gives your sites

  • Digital site inductions with video and a short knowledge check.
  • Sign-in and sign-out by QR code at the site gate, with live headcount.
  • RAMS issue and acknowledgement, recorded per person.
  • Permits to work with issue, acceptance and close-out steps.
  • Snagging lists with photos pinned to drawings.
  • Daily site diaries covering labour, weather, deliveries and delays.
  • Plant pre-use checks and toolbox talk attendance records.
  • An office dashboard with exports for audits.

Snagging on drawings and the daily diary

Snagging is where an app saves most time. The site manager opens a floor drawing, taps the spot of a defect, takes a photo and assigns it to the responsible trade. That trade sees only their snags, closes them with an after photo, and the manager signs them off. At handover the client gets a report of every item.

The daily diary is a short evening form recording who was on site, weather, deliveries, instructions and delays. Over a long project that diary becomes a reliable account of what happened and when. Sign-in data can feed the staff scheduling side if you also plan labour across sites. QR codes for the gate can be made with our QR code generator.

Frequently asked questions

Does the app work without mobile signal?

Yes. Forms, drawings and induction content are stored on the device, so operatives can complete records in a basement or remote plot. Everything syncs to the office automatically once the phone or tablet reconnects.

Can operatives use their own phones?

They can, using a simple sign-in that keeps work data separate. Some firms prefer shared rugged tablets at the gate and on each floor. We support either approach, or a mix, depending on your site policy.

Will the app make us CDM compliant?

No app does that by itself. CDM duties depend on your role and how you plan and manage the work. The app makes recording inductions, briefings, permits and checks easier and more consistent, which supports the records those duties call for.

Can we use our existing RAMS and permit templates?

Yes. We rebuild your current templates as digital forms so the questions stay familiar. Version control means operatives always sign the latest RAMS, while older versions remain on record for later reference.

How do subcontractors get access?

Each subcontractor firm gets its own accounts, seeing only the sites, drawings and snags that apply to them. Access ends when their package finishes, without removing the historic records they created on your sites.
