Web Print Signs has made shop signs for Manchester businesses since 2003: fascia panels, tray signs, built-up letters, illuminated and projecting signs, and the window graphics that go with them. We survey the frontage, design the sign onto a photo of your own shop, manage the making and fit it, across Manchester, Salford, Trafford, Oldham and the rest of Greater Manchester.

Send a photo of your shopfront with rough measurements and you’ll get a fixed price, not a “from” price — survey, design, manufacture and fitting by the same team.

Shop front signs we make
Most shop fronts need one main sign above the door and something at eye level in the window. These are the types we fit most often in Manchester:

- Fascia signs: a flat aluminium composite panel printed or cut in vinyl, or a folded tray sign with returned edges for a cleaner, deeper look. The standard choice for a high street unit.
- Built-up letters: individual acrylic or metal letters fixed to the fascia or straight onto brick. They look premium from across the road and suit salons, restaurants and offices.
- Illuminated signs: lightboxes, halo-lit letters and LED signs for takeaways, bars and anyone trading after dark.
- Projecting signs: a double-sided sign at right angles to the wall, so people walking along the pavement see you before they reach the window.
- Window graphics: cut vinyl lettering, opening hours, frosted manifestation and full-colour one way vision that advertises outside while you can still see out.
- A-boards and pavement signs for daily offers, plus directional and safety signs inside the building.
What a shop sign costs in Manchester
Prices depend on size, materials, lighting and how the sign is fixed. As a guide for 2026, from our shop sign price guide:
- Flat printed fascia up to about 3m x 0.6m: roughly £150 to £400.
- Built-up letters: from about £400, rising with the number and size of letters.
- Illuminated fascias and lightboxes: roughly £500 to £3,000.
- Window graphics: simple lettering from about £80, full window coverage £200 to £600.
- A-boards: from £30.24 online.
Anything fixed to a building is quoted after we have seen a photo and the measurements, and the price is fixed before anything is made. Fitting is included in the quote, so there is no day rate that grows on the day.
How does a sign job run, from survey to fitting?
- Send a photo and a rough width. That is enough for us to suggest what suits the building and give you a price range. For bigger jobs we visit and measure.
- See it on your own shop. We mock the design onto a photo of your frontage so you can judge size, colours and readability from the street. Changes at this stage are free.
- Made to order. Once you approve the design, we book production and give you a fitting date.
- Fitted. We remove the old sign if needed, fix the new one and tidy up. Most single shop fronts are done in a morning.
Planning permission and landlord consent
Shop signs in England are covered by the advertisement consent rules (the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007). Many non-illuminated fascia signs are allowed without applying, within limits on size and height. Illuminated signs, projecting signs above a certain size, and any sign on a listed building or in a conservation area often need express consent from the council. Check your lease as well: most landlords want to approve signage first.
We tell you at quote stage when consent is likely to be needed and supply the drawings and specifications for the application. Submitting it stays with you or your agent.
Shop signs across Greater Manchester
We are on Bury New Road in Manchester (M8), so most of Greater Manchester is a short van run: the city centre, Northern Quarter and Ancoats, Salford and Salford Quays, Cheetham Hill, Prestwich, Bury, Trafford, Stockport, Bolton and Rochdale. We also fit shop front signs in Oldham regularly; see printing and signage in Oldham.
Signs are usually ordered with other things for an opening or a rebrand: van graphics, business cards and flyers. One team quotes and manages the lot.
What do customers ask about Shop Signs Manchester?
What types of shop signs do you offer in Manchester?
Fascia panels and tray signs, built-up letters, illuminated and LED signs, lightboxes, projecting signs, window graphics, A-boards, internal and safety signs. All are made to your branding and measured to your building.
How much does a shop front sign cost?
A flat printed fascia on a standard unit is usually £150 to £400. Built-up letters start from about £400 and illuminated signs range from about £500 to £3,000. We give a fixed price after seeing a photo and measurements, with fitting included.
Do I need planning permission for a shop sign?
Often not for a plain, non-illuminated fascia within the size limits, but illuminated signs, larger projecting signs, listed buildings and conservation areas usually need advertisement consent from the council. We tell you at quote stage and supply drawings for the application.
How long does a shop sign take?
From approved artwork, a straightforward fascia usually takes a few working days. Illuminated signs and built-up letters take longer. You get a fitting date with the quote.
Can you remove my old sign?
Yes. We take down and dispose of the old sign as part of the fitting, and tell you beforehand if the fascia board behind it needs repair.
Do you design the sign as well?
Yes, design is included. Send your logo, or nothing at all, and we lay the sign out and show it on a photo of your own shop before anything is made.
Do you fit shop signs outside Manchester city centre?
Yes. We fit across Greater Manchester, including Salford, Trafford, Bury, Prestwich, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Bolton and Wigan.
