Website Uptime Monitoring Manchester

Uptime monitoring tells you the website is down before a customer rings to say so. We set up checks for Manchester businesses that test the site from several locations every few minutes, watch the pages that bring in money, and alert the right person the moment something fails.

How a site can be down with nobody noticing

Websites rarely fail in a way the owner sees. The homepage might load from your office while visitors elsewhere get a timeout. A database fault can leave the page loading but showing “Error establishing a database connection” instead of your content. A checkout can look fine until someone presses Pay. Most owners find out when enquiries dry up.

Proper monitoring checks from several locations every few minutes, so one blip on one network does not raise a false alarm but a real outage does. Keyword checks go further: rather than just confirming the server answered, they look for a phrase that should appear, so an error page served with a normal status code still gets caught.

Some failures are dated in advance. SSL certificates and domain registrations expire on fixed days, and if renewal fails the site disappears. Watching those dates gives weeks of warning.

Who benefits most

Any business where hours offline mean lost enquiries or orders.

  • Online shops, where a broken basket costs sales directly
  • Service firms whose enquiries mostly arrive through the website
  • Booking sites for salons, classes or venues taking appointments around the clock
  • Advertisers whose paid clicks keep landing on a dead page
  • Sites on shared hosting with a history of unexplained outages

How we set monitoring up

1

Choose what to watch

We pick the key URLs, such as the homepage, a main service page, the contact form and checkout.

2

Multi-location checks

Each URL is tested every few minutes from several places, and a failure must be seen from more than one before alerting.

3

Keyword and transaction checks

Keyword checks look for expected text, and scripted checks walk through a form submission or add-to-basket step.

4

Track expiry dates

Certificate and domain renewal dates are watched, with alerts sent well ahead.

5

Route the alerts

Alerts reach the people you choose by email, SMS or WhatsApp, as well as our team.

What you get

  • Checks every few minutes from several locations
  • Keyword checks that catch error pages posing as normal ones
  • Form or checkout transaction checks
  • SSL and domain expiry alerts
  • Alerts by email, SMS or WhatsApp to named people
  • A status history of every outage, its length and cause where known
  • A monthly uptime summary to share with your team

What we do when an alert fires

An alert on its own fixes nothing. What counts is what happens next, so we agree the steps with you in advance.

First we confirm the problem is real by checking which locations failed. Then we find the cause: a host outage, an expired certificate, a database error, a plugin update gone wrong or a traffic spike. If it sits with your host, we raise it and chase it for you. If it is inside the site, we fix it or roll back the last change from a recent backup.

You hear from us when we start, when it is resolved and what caused it. Repeated outages from one host are logged, giving you evidence if you decide to move through our hosting and migration service. Monitoring also forms part of WordPress maintenance, or runs on its own for any platform.

Frequently asked questions

How often is my site checked?

Every few minutes, from several locations. A failure has to show up from more than one location before an alert goes out, which filters out single network hiccups while still catching genuine outages quickly.

Can you monitor a site you did not build?

Yes. Monitoring works from outside, so the platform, host and developer do not matter. For form or checkout checks we agree a safe test path first, such as a hidden test product or a form entry marked as a test.

Will test checks flood my inbox with fake enquiries?

No. Transaction checks are clearly labelled and filtered out of your notifications where possible. On shops they use a hidden test product or stop before payment, so your order list and inbox stay clean.

What does uptime monitoring miss?

It checks that pages load and contain what they should. It will not spot gradual slowdowns, hidden malware that leaves pages looking normal, or faults on pages nobody is watching. Speed and security need their own checks.

My host already monitors its servers. Isn’t that enough?

Your host watches its servers, not your site. A server can be perfectly healthy while WordPress shows an error, your certificate has expired or checkout is broken. Independent monitoring sees what your visitors actually see.
