AI Readiness Audit Manchester

An AI readiness audit tells you where AI would genuinely help your business and where it would not. Our Manchester team maps your repetitive tasks, data and risks, checks the tools you already pay for, and hands you a prioritised plan you can act on with us, with someone else or by yourselves.

Separating useful AI from expensive distraction

Many businesses feel they should be doing something with AI but cannot say what. Suppliers pitch chatbots, staff try free tools on their own, and nobody has asked which jobs actually eat time.

The audit starts from your work, not from the technology. We look at tasks that are frequent, rule-based and text-heavy, such as sorting enquiries or keying in invoice details, because that is where language models tend to fit. We also look at where your data lives and how tidy it is, since most AI projects stall on messy spreadsheets rather than on the model.

Just as useful is the list of things not to automate: tasks that need judgement, carry legal weight or are too rare to justify a build.

Who an audit is for

It suits organisations that want a clear view before spending on any build.

  • Owner-managed firms with no technical lead.
  • Professional practices handling lots of documents and client correspondence.
  • Manufacturers and distributors with heavy order processing and admin.
  • Charities and membership bodies stretched on administrative time.
  • Companies already paying for Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace licences and unsure what is included.

What happens during the audit

1

Kick-off with leadership

We agree goals, constraints and any no-go areas, such as client data that must stay put.

2

Task mapping interviews

Short conversations with each team list their repetitive tasks, time spent and common errors.

3

Data and systems review

We record where key data sits, its quality and how systems connect, including whether exports or APIs are available.

4

Risk assessment

Each candidate use is checked for accuracy risk, personal data, staff impact and how errors would be caught.

5

Roadmap and walkthrough

We present a prioritised plan in a meeting, answer questions and leave the report with you.

What the report contains

  • A task inventory with time estimates supplied by your teams.
  • A map of data sources, owners and quality issues.
  • Quick wins you can start using within your current tools.
  • Larger projects ranked by benefit, effort and risk.
  • A risk note for each proposal covering accuracy, privacy and staff impact.
  • A plain recommendation on what to leave alone.

Checking what you already pay for

Before suggesting anything new, we look at licences you hold. Microsoft 365 Copilot and Gemini in Google Workspace bring AI features into email, documents and meetings, but whether you have them depends on your plan and add-ons. We check your admin settings with you and test whether those features cover a task before any custom build is suggested.

Often the first quick win is simply configuring an existing tool and showing staff how to use it, which links naturally to our AI training workshops. Where a custom build does make sense, such as AI automation of a document-heavy process, the roadmap says why off-the-shelf tools fall short. There is no obligation to build with us; the report is written so any competent developer could pick it up.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an AI readiness audit take?

It depends on the number of teams and systems involved. A single-site firm usually needs a few interview sessions plus review time. We agree the timetable and interviewees before starting, so nobody is pulled from work unexpectedly.

Do we have to use you for the work afterwards?

No. The report is yours, written in plain language with enough detail for another supplier or your own staff to act on it. Many recommendations involve configuring tools you already have, which needs no developer. If you want us to build anything, that is quoted separately.

Will the audit look at staff roles and jobs?

It looks at tasks, not people. Where a change would shift workload significantly, the report flags it so you can plan communication and retraining. Involving staff early helps, since they know the task best.

What access do you need to our systems?

Usually read-only views or screen shares rather than logins. We need to see how data is stored and exported, not copy it. Anything confidential stays on your systems, and we are happy to sign a confidentiality agreement before interviews begin.

Is Copilot or Gemini enough on its own?

Sometimes. For drafting, summarising meetings and searching your own documents, those built-in features can cover a lot. They are less suited to processes that span several systems or need structured output into a database. The audit tests this against your real tasks.
