Membership App Development Manchester
We build membership apps for professional bodies, social clubs, golf clubs and associations in Manchester and the wider North West. Members carry a digital card, renew without paperwork, book events and find each other, while your committee runs the organisation without a filing cabinet.

Why clubs and associations move membership into an app
Membership admin often lives in one volunteer’s spreadsheet, paper renewal forms and a handbook out of date by spring. An app gives each member a single account holding their card, renewal date, bookings and the content their membership includes.
The digital membership card can sit inside the app or as a pass in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, showing name, grade and expiry with a scannable code. Renewals run by card or Direct Debit through a provider such as GoCardless, so fees collect themselves and lapsed members get a reminder. App store payment rules differ for digital content and for access to real-world facilities, so we check which applies to what you sell. The app backend keeps member records in one place for the app and your website.
Organisations that suit a membership app
Any group whose members pay to belong and return regularly can use one.
- Professional bodies offering members-only guidance, CPD records and a register of members.
- Golf clubs managing handicaps, competitions, guest sign-in and bar cards.
- Social and working men’s clubs replacing paper cards and committee notices.
- Trade and business associations running networking events and a member directory.
- Sports clubs collecting subscriptions alongside fixtures, best served with a sports club app.
Our approach to membership apps
Read your rules
We start with your constitution or bylaws, because they set membership grades, renewal terms, committee powers and voting rights.
Clean the member list
We tidy your records, remove duplicates and import carefully so nobody loses their history.
Design for members and officers
We design the member screens and the officer dashboard side by side, so both views match.
Build payments and access
We build the apps, set up card and Direct Debit renewals, and connect wallet passes and scanning.
Launch at renewal time
We usually time the launch with your renewal season, so members download the app as part of renewing.
What members and committees get
- iOS and Android apps in your club or association’s branding.
- Digital membership cards with optional Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes.
- Online renewals by card or Direct Debit with automatic reminders.
- A member directory with privacy settings each member controls.
- Members-only news, documents and video content.
- Event booking with guest places.
- Committee tools for minutes, notices and polls.
Directory privacy, forums and voting
A member directory needs the most care. Members should decide what others see, perhaps name and company but not phone number. We build the directory so each field has its own visibility setting, defaulting to private, and members can hide themselves entirely. This approach follows UK GDPR principles; you should take legal advice on your own privacy notice.
Forums let members ask questions or arrange games, with moderation tools for officers. For committees, the app can hold agendas, papers and minutes in a restricted area. Voting is possible where your rules allow it, such as electing officers or approving a motion, with one vote per eligible member and results visible to the people your constitution names. Members who also want structured learning can be pointed to an e-learning app for CPD content.
Frequently asked questions
Can members renew automatically by Direct Debit?
Yes. We connect the app to a Direct Debit provider so annual or monthly fees collect on the due date. Members see their next payment in the app and get a notice before it is taken, and failed payments flag up in the officer dashboard.
Can the membership card work at our door or bar?
Yes. Each card carries a unique code that staff scan with a phone or tablet to confirm the member is current. The same scan can log attendance or apply member pricing at the bar if your till supports it.
How do you move our existing members across?
We import your current list after cleaning it with you. Members then receive an invitation to activate their account using the email on file, so they keep their membership number and history.
Is online voting allowed for our club?
It depends on your constitution. Some rules permit electronic voting, while others need amending first. We build voting only where your rules allow it, and suggest you confirm the position with your committee or adviser.
Can different membership grades see different content?
Yes. Grades such as full, associate, junior or honorary can each have their own access to content, events and directory listings. Officers set these rules in the dashboard and can change them as your categories evolve.
