WooCommerce Setup Manchester

WooCommerce turns a WordPress website into a shop. We set it up properly for Manchester businesses, either adding a shop to the site you already have or fixing an install that was rushed, covering products, shipping, VAT, payments and the pages UK online sellers need.

Getting WooCommerce right from the start

Installing the plugin takes minutes. Configuring it so prices, tax, delivery charges and emails behave takes care, and most faults we see come from settings left at their defaults: shipping zones covering one country, prices entered including VAT while the store treats them as excluding, or stock tracking off so items oversell.

Products need thought too. A T-shirt in four sizes and six colours is a variable product, with attributes and variations that each carry their own SKU, price and stock. Get the attributes wrong and filters, feeds and stock reports suffer later. Shipping classes let bulky items carry a different charge from small parcels in the same zone.

VAT depends on your position. If you are registered, we set the standard UK rate and decide whether prices show including or excluding tax. If you are not, tax is switched off so nothing is added at checkout. Your accountant should confirm your own VAT position.

Businesses we set WooCommerce up for

It suits sellers who want the shop on their own WordPress site, under their full control.

  • Existing WordPress sites adding a shop beside their service pages
  • Makers and retailers with products in many sizes, colours or options
  • Trade suppliers needing wholesale prices or account-only products
  • Businesses selling physical goods and downloads together
  • Large catalogues where performance with many products matters
  • Sellers still deciding, who may also want to read about Shopify setup

How we set up your shop

1

Plan products and settings

We agree product types, attributes, categories, VAT position and shipping rules before building anything.

2

Build the catalogue

Products and variations are added or imported by CSV, with SKUs, stock levels, images and descriptions.

3

Shipping, tax and payments

Zones, classes and rates are configured, VAT matches your registration, and payment gateways are connected.

4

Emails and legal pages

Order and customer emails are branded and checked, and terms, delivery, returns and privacy pages go in.

5

Test orders end to end

We place orders for different products, zones and payment methods, including a refund.

6

Tune and launch

Caching, image sizes and database settings are adjusted for your catalogue before the shop goes live.

What is ready at launch

  • Products with variations, SKUs, stock tracking and low-stock alerts
  • Shipping zones and classes matching how you really deliver
  • VAT settings that fit your registration status
  • Payment gateways tested in live mode
  • Branded order, invoice and account emails
  • Terms, returns, delivery and privacy pages linked at checkout
  • A handover on adding products and processing orders

Consumer law pages your shop needs

Selling to consumers online brings duties a brochure site does not have. The Consumer Contracts Regulations give buyers a 14-day cancellation period for most goods bought at a distance, and your shop must tell them clearly before they order. We put in place:

  • A returns and cancellation page explaining the 14-day period and how to use it
  • Clear delivery information, including charges and areas covered
  • Terms and conditions linked from checkout
  • Your business name, address and contact details, easy to find
  • A privacy notice for order data, alongside your cookie consent setup

Some goods, such as personalised items, follow different rules. We work in line with published guidance, but take legal advice on the wording for your products.

Frequently asked questions

Can you add WooCommerce to my existing WordPress site?

Usually, yes. We check your theme, plugins and hosting first, because some older themes style shop pages badly and some hosts struggle with the extra load. If changes are needed we say so before starting, so the quote covers everything.

Should my prices include VAT?

Consumer shops normally show prices including VAT, while trade shops often show them excluding it. WooCommerce handles both, but the setting must match how prices were entered or customers see wrong totals. Your accountant can confirm the right approach.

Can you import my products from a spreadsheet?

Yes. WooCommerce has a CSV importer for simple and variable products. We tidy the spreadsheet first so attributes, categories and image links map correctly, then check a sample before importing the full list.

Which payment methods can I offer?

Stripe, PayPal and Square are the usual choices for UK shops, covering cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Our payment gateway integration page explains the options and how each one connects.

Will WooCommerce cope with thousands of products?

It can, on suitable hosting with proper caching and a tidy database. Large catalogues need attention to search, filtering and image sizes, so we plan for your catalogue size during setup rather than chasing slowness after launch.
