Courier App Development Manchester
We build driver and dispatch apps for courier and delivery firms in Manchester. Drivers follow a route order, scan parcels at collection and drop, and capture a photo and signature as delivery confirmation, while dispatchers and customers can see where every parcel is.

Every parcel with a record attached
Delivery disputes usually come down to evidence: the customer says nothing came, the driver remembers a neighbour, and nobody can show what happened. A courier app records each step as it happens, with a time, a location and a scan.
At collection the driver scans each barcode, so the load is checked against the manifest before the van leaves. On the road the stops appear in route order. At the door the driver scans again and captures delivery confirmation: a photo of where the parcel was left, a signature on screen, or the name of the person who took it in. If a drop fails, the driver picks a reason, such as no access or nobody home, and the parcel returns to the dispatcher’s queue.
Customers get a tracking link by text or email, with nothing to install. If you also run a depot, our inventory apps cover goods in and goods out.
Delivery businesses it fits
Firms whose drivers need a record of each drop.
- Independent courier firms in Manchester running multi-drop routes.
- Wholesalers and distributors delivering their own stock to trade customers.
- Online shops with their own drivers who want paid orders sent straight to the van.
- Furniture and appliance retailers making two-person deliveries in booked slots.
- Florists, bakeries and caterers running delivery rounds across Greater Manchester.
How we build a courier app
Follow a delivery round
We walk through a typical day with your dispatcher and a driver to see where time and information go missing.
Define scans and statuses
We agree every parcel status, failed delivery reason and confirmation type, so the data stays consistent across drivers.
Design the driver app
One-handed screens, large scan buttons and as few taps as possible between stops.
Build offline and connect
Scans, photos and signatures save without signal and upload later, and we link the order sources you already use.
Run live trials
A couple of drivers run real rounds with the app before the rest of the fleet moves over.
What you get
- Driver app with route order, barcode scanning and hand-off to a maps app.
- Delivery confirmation by photo, signature or recipient name, with time and location.
- Failed delivery reasons feeding a re-delivery queue.
- Customer tracking link sent by SMS or email.
- Dispatcher view of drivers, stops and parcel status.
- Searchable delivery history for answering customer queries.
Getting orders into the van without retyping
We connect the app to wherever your orders already live, so nobody retypes addresses:
- Shopify and WooCommerce stores, so paid orders arrive as stops with the address and delivery notes.
- Spreadsheet or CSV import for trade customers who send a list of drops.
- An API for larger clients who want to book collections from their own systems.
- Status updates sent back to the shop, so an order shows as delivered once the driver confirms it.
If you sell online and want a branded shopping app as well, see our e-commerce apps. For the store side, our WooCommerce setup team can tidy the order and shipping data the app reads.
Frequently asked questions
Does the driver app work without signal?
Yes. The day’s route downloads to the phone before the driver sets off. Scans, photos and signatures are stored on the device and upload as soon as the phone reconnects, so a dead spot in a tower block stairwell does not stop the round.
What counts as delivery confirmation in the app?
You choose per customer or per service: a photo of the parcel where it was left, a signature on screen, the recipient’s name, or a combination. Each is stored with the time and the phone’s location, and dispatchers can open it in seconds when a customer queries a drop.
Can customers track parcels without downloading an app?
Yes. Customers receive a link by SMS or email that opens a tracking page in their browser, showing the parcel’s status and, when the driver is close, an approximate arrival. Your branding appears on the page and the messages.
Can the app plan the order of stops?
It puts stops in a sensible order based on location, and dispatchers can drag stops to reorder them. For larger fleets we can connect a route planning service through its API, so drivers follow an order worked out across every van.
Can self-employed drivers use their own phones?
Yes. Drivers install the app on their own iPhone or Android phone and log in with an account you control. They see only their assigned rounds, and you can switch off a login the moment someone stops working with you.
