Custom Script Installation Manchester

Need a Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, live chat box or booking widget added to your site? Our Manchester developers install third-party scripts so they fire correctly, respect your cookie banner and do not drag page speed down. It suits marketing teams and owners who have been handed a code snippet and told to paste it in.

Why pasting a snippet into the header goes wrong

Most platforms hand you a block of code and say “add this before the closing head tag”. Done that way, scripts often load before a visitor has agreed to cookies, block the page while they download, or vanish the next time the theme updates.

We place each script deliberately. Usually that means Google Tag Manager, where tags sit in one container with triggers and consent settings. Where Tag Manager is not suitable, we add code through a child theme or a lightweight plugin, never by editing WordPress core or theme files that updates overwrite.

Marketing and analytics tags should only run once a visitor gives consent. We link each tag to your cookie consent banner so it waits for the right category of permission. We set things up in line with published guidance, and you should take legal advice on your own situation.

Who tends to need this

Requests usually arrive just before a campaign or new tool goes live.

  • Businesses starting Meta, LinkedIn or TikTok ads that need the pixel feeding back conversions.
  • Service firms adding a Calendly-style booking tool to quote or consultation pages.
  • Shops adding trust badges or customer feedback widgets to product pages.
  • Sites adding live chat that must not cover buttons on phones.

Our installation routine

1

Inventory existing scripts

We list what already loads, find duplicates and note anything left behind by tools you no longer use.

2

Choose the placement

We decide whether each script belongs in Tag Manager, a child theme or a plugin hook, and on which pages it should run.

3

Build on staging

Scripts go onto a staging copy first, so a broken widget never reaches live customers.

4

Consent and loading checks

We confirm each tag waits for consent and loads with async or defer where the vendor allows it.

5

Test and go live

Using each platform’s own debugging tools, we confirm events fire once, then publish and recheck on the live site.

What is handed over

  • Each requested script installed and firing on the right pages.
  • Tags linked to the matching cookie consent categories.
  • Duplicate or abandoned scripts removed, with your agreement.
  • A before and after page speed reading for the pages affected.
  • A written list of every script, where it lives and who owns the account.

Scripts we install most often

Each vendor has quirks. This is what we watch for.

  • Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag and TikTok pixel: base code on every page, plus event tags for leads or purchases, each held until marketing consent is given.
  • Live chat widgets: loaded after the main content, positioned so they do not hide checkout or call buttons on mobile.
  • Booking tools: embedded inline or as a pop-up, with completed bookings passed to your conversion tracking where the tool supports it.
  • Hotjar and Microsoft Clarity: session recording with form fields masked so personal details are not captured.

Frequently asked questions

Can you add a script without me sharing my WordPress login?

Often, yes. If you give us publish access to your Google Tag Manager container, most tracking and widget scripts can go in there. Inline booking embeds need site access, which can be a temporary account you remove afterwards.

Will adding chat or tracking slow my site down?

Every script adds some weight. We reduce the impact by loading scripts asynchronously, delaying non-essential ones until after the page renders and only running them where needed. You get before and after speed readings.

Why did my pixel stop working after a theme update?

The code was probably pasted into a theme file the update replaced. We move it to Tag Manager or a child theme, where updates leave it alone, then confirm it fires again in the platform’s event testing tool.

Do tracking pixels need cookie consent?

Advertising and analytics tags normally set cookies or read device data, so UK guidance expects consent before they run. We connect each tag to your consent banner categories. This is not legal advice, so check your own position with an adviser.

Can you clear out old scripts we no longer use?

Yes. Old pixels and trial tools often keep loading long after anyone checked them. We list each one, agree with you which can go, then remove them and retest the pages they sat on.
