Clinic Appointment App Development Manchester

We build appointment booking and admin apps for private clinics in Manchester, including physiotherapy, dental, aesthetics and optometry practices. The app handles booking, forms before the visit, reminders and secure messages. It does not diagnose, treat or give medical advice.

A booking and admin tool, nothing clinical

Clinic receptionists spend much of the day booking and moving appointments by phone and chasing forms. A clinic app moves that admin onto the patient’s phone: they book with the right practitioner, complete forms beforehand and get reminders.

We are strict about scope. Our clinic apps handle booking and administration only. They do not interpret symptoms, suggest treatment or give medical advice, and clinical decisions stay with your clinicians. Software that itself diagnoses or treats may count as a medical device regulated by the MHRA, so if a request drifts that way we flag it and do not build it.

Even a booking app here holds health information, which is special category data under UK GDPR. We work through a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) with you, keep only what booking needs, encrypt data in transit and at rest, and set access controls by role. Our app backend page covers hosting and security. We follow published ICO guidance; take legal advice for your situation.

Practices we build booking apps for

Each kind of practice books differently, so the flow follows yours.

  • Physiotherapy clinics, where first appointments run longer than follow-ups.
  • Private dental practices booking dentist and hygienist time against surgery availability.
  • Aesthetics clinics that require a consultation before a treatment slot can be booked.
  • Optometrists scheduling eye tests alongside frame fittings and collections.
  • Shared clinics across Greater Manchester where several professionals rent rooms.

How a clinic booking app is delivered

1

Agree scope in writing

We list every feature and mark it as booking or admin. Anything clinical is recorded as out of scope, so there is no ambiguity later.

2

Data protection groundwork

We complete the DPIA with you, decide what each form asks and why, and set retention periods for each kind of record.

3

Design for patients and reception

Booking screens stay simple and accessible, and the admin view follows your reception team’s day.

4

Build and secure

We build the apps and dashboard with encrypted storage, role-based access and a log of who opened which record.

5

Test, launch, maintain

Reception runs test bookings and forms, we publish to both app stores, then keep the app and its security updates current.

What the clinic app includes

  • Patient booking by practitioner, appointment type and location.
  • Pre-visit forms completed on the phone and passed securely to your team.
  • Reminders by push, SMS or email with simple cancel and rebook.
  • Secure messaging for admin matters such as directions and rescheduling.
  • Admin dashboard with role-based access and an audit log.
  • A link to your practice management system where it offers an API.

What we will not build, and why

On clinic projects we decline:

  • Symptom checkers, or questionnaires that recommend a course of action.
  • Treatment plans, dosing calculators or exercises generated by the app.
  • Automated messages containing medical advice; system messages stay administrative.
  • Features that analyse photos or readings to reach a clinical conclusion.
  • Fields collecting health details the booking does not need.

Any of those would be a regulated medical device project with its own route. For appointments in non-clinical businesses, our booking app page may suit better.

Frequently asked questions

Can the app give patients advice about their symptoms?

No. The app books appointments, collects forms and sends admin messages. It does not assess symptoms or advise on treatment, and we do not build features that do. Patients with clinical questions are directed to contact your clinic, where your clinicians answer them.

How is patient information protected?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, hosted in the UK or another location agreed in the DPIA, and visible only to staff roles that need it. Every access to a record is logged, and we collect no more than the booking process requires.

Do we need a DPIA for a booking app?

Clinic booking data can reveal health information, which is special category data, so we treat a DPIA as standard on every clinic project. It records the risks and how the app reduces them. Take legal advice on whether one is legally required for you.

Can it connect to our practice management software?

Often, yes. If your system offers an API, app bookings can be written straight into it, so reception keeps one diary. If not, we tell you before quoting and suggest the simplest alternative.

Can patients complete their medical history forms in advance?

Yes. Your clinicians decide what each form asks; the app delivers it, stores the answers securely and passes them to the right practitioner. It does not read or interpret answers, and we help remove questions the visit does not need.
