Takeaway App Development Manchester
Our team builds own-brand takeaway apps for Manchester restaurants, pizzerias, curry houses and dark kitchens. Customers order delivery or collection direct with you, under your name, and the order details and customer list stay in your hands rather than sitting on a marketplace.

Selling direct alongside, or instead of, the delivery marketplaces
Marketplace apps bring new customers, but the relationship belongs to them. You rarely see who ordered, you cannot easily contact them again, and every order carries the platform’s terms. An own-brand app runs next to those listings, or replaces them, so regulars who already know you can order direct.
Delivery needs rules that a simple online menu lacks. We set delivery zones by postcode or radius, with a different minimum order and delivery charge per zone if you want. Customers pick a delivery or collection slot, and slots close when the kitchen is full, so you are not swamped at eight on a Friday.
Food Standards Agency guidance says allergen information has to be available before purchase and again when the food reaches the customer. The app shows allergens on each item before checkout, and the order ticket and bag label can repeat them. You set the recipes; we make sure the data reaches the screen and the label.
Food businesses that suit an own-brand app
A direct app works best where customers order again and again over months.
- Independent takeaways with a loyal local customer base and their own drivers.
- Pizza and burger brands with two or more kitchens across Greater Manchester.
- Dark kitchens running several menu brands out of one unit.
- Restaurants adding delivery, who may also want a table ordering app for dine-in.
- Meal prep companies selling weekly collection or delivery slots.
Our build process for takeaway ordering
Map your delivery area
We plot zones, minimum orders, charges and opening hours for each kitchen.
Load menu and allergens
Items, meal deals, add-ons and allergen data go into an editable menu manager.
Set up drivers
A driver view lists assigned orders with addresses and route links, and marks each one delivered.
Trial with regulars
A handful of loyal customers order through a test release so we can tidy the flow.
Publish and promote
The app goes into both stores, and we add ordering links to your website and printed menus.

Keeping customers coming back to your own app
Getting a customer to download the app is the hard part. Keeping them ordering direct is where the features below pay their way.
- Loyalty stamps: every tenth order earns a free item, or points build towards a reward, a model covered in more depth on our loyalty app page.
- Saved favourites: a regular’s usual Friday order sits one tap away.
- Offers by notification: a quiet Tuesday deal sent only to customers who agreed to marketing messages.
- Minimum order rules: set per zone so long-distance runs still make sense for your drivers.
Frequently asked questions
Can we keep our marketplace listings while running our own app?
Yes. Most takeaways do both. Marketplaces bring in new customers and your own app gives regulars a direct route. Check your marketplace contract for any rules about pricing differences between channels.
Do we need our own delivery drivers?
For delivery, someone has to carry the food. Many takeaways use their own drivers, and the app gives them an order list and status updates. Collection-only apps need no drivers at all.
Can different postcodes have different delivery charges?
Yes. Each zone can carry its own delivery charge, minimum order and delivery time estimate. Addresses outside every zone are offered collection only, so nobody is let down at checkout.
Who owns the customer data collected by the app?
You do. Names, addresses and order history sit in a database under your control. We set up privacy notices and marketing consent in line with published ICO guidance, and you should take legal advice for your situation.
How do customers pay?
Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay through a payment provider you choose, plus cash on delivery if you allow it. Physical food orders do not go through Apple or Google in-app purchase.
