Loyalty App Development Manchester

Our team builds digital loyalty schemes for Manchester cafes, bars, salons, barbers and independent shops. Paper stamp cards get lost and tell you nothing; a loyalty app or wallet pass records every visit, rewards regulars automatically and shows you who keeps coming back.

Replacing the paper stamp card with something you can measure

The mechanics stay familiar. A customer shows a QR code at the till, staff scan it, and a stamp or points land on their account. Ten coffees earn a free one, or points build towards a reward of your choosing. The difference is that every scan becomes data: visit frequency, average spend and which rewards people actually claim.

Rules can be as plain or as layered as you like. Points per visit or per pound spent, tiers that bring better perks after a set number of visits, a birthday reward, and referral codes that reward both the existing customer and the friend they bring. Each rule is set in an admin panel, so you can change a promotion without new app releases.

A full app is not always needed. Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes give a lighter option: the customer adds a loyalty card to their phone’s wallet with one tap, nothing to download, and the pass updates as stamps are added. Many businesses start there and move to an app once the scheme proves popular.

Businesses that run loyalty schemes well

Loyalty works where the same people visit often and a modest reward feels worth collecting.

  • Coffee shops and bakeries with daily or weekly regulars.
  • Barbers and salons, often paired with a salon booking app.
  • Takeaways rewarding direct orders over marketplace ones.
  • Car washes, dry cleaners and other repeat-visit services.
  • Independent retail groups wanting one scheme across several shops.

How a loyalty scheme gets built

1

Decide the reward model

We agree stamps or points, reward thresholds, tiers and what counts as a visit.

2

Choose app or pass

We weigh a full app against wallet passes based on how your customers behave.

3

Set up the till side

Staff get a scanning app on a phone or tablet, with a PIN per staff member.

4

Run a soft launch

Regulars join first, so we can check scanning speed at a busy till.

5

Report and adjust

After launch we review repeat-visit reports with you and tune the rules.

What we hand over

  • A customer loyalty app or Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes, or both.
  • Staff scanning app with individual PINs.
  • Admin panel for points rules, rewards, tiers and birthday offers.
  • Referral codes with tracking of who referred whom.
  • Marketing consent recorded on its own, separate to service messages.
  • Reports on repeat visits, reward redemptions and lapsed customers.

Stopping abuse without slowing the queue

Every loyalty scheme attracts a few people who try to game it. Controls need to block that without making honest customers wait.

  • Staff PIN on scans: each stamp is tied to the member of staff who gave it, so unusual patterns stand out.
  • One scan per visit: a time window stops the same code being scanned repeatedly in one transaction.
  • Rotating QR codes: the customer’s code refreshes, so a screenshot shared in a group chat stops working.
  • Reward approval: high-value rewards can require a manager PIN before they are redeemed.

Promotional messages to members fall under PECR, so we record marketing consent clearly at sign-up. If points also need to work in an online shop, our ecommerce app work connects the two.

Frequently asked questions

Do customers need to download an app to collect stamps?

Not if you choose wallet passes. The customer scans a sign-up code, adds the pass to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and is ready. A full app adds features like offers, ordering and a rewards history, so some businesses offer both.

Can the scheme link to our EPOS?

Where your EPOS has an API, points can be awarded automatically based on the actual spend on each receipt. Where it does not, staff scan the customer’s code on a separate device, which still works well at most tills.

Can we send offers to loyalty members?

Yes, to members who agreed to receive marketing. Notifications and emails can target groups such as lapsed customers or a certain tier. We set consent up in line with published PECR guidance; take legal advice for your situation.

What happens to points if we change the rules?

Existing balances stay on each account. You decide whether new rules apply immediately or to future visits only, and we can show members a notice explaining the change before it takes effect.

Can one scheme cover several shops?

Yes. Members collect and redeem at any branch, while reports break down visits and redemptions by location so you can compare how each shop is doing over time and spot a branch where sign-ups lag.
