Community App Development Manchester

We build apps for churches, mosques, gurdwaras, temples and community groups across Manchester. Your congregation or members get service or prayer times, events, livestreams and notices in one place, and volunteers get rotas and group messages instead of a dozen separate chats.

One place for your community’s notices, times and gatherings

Many places of worship rely on a printed sheet, a noticeboard and several messaging groups that only some people are in. A dedicated app gives everyone the same calendar and notices, plus a push notification when something changes.

Timings are often why people open the app. A church or temple might list services and festival dates. For a mosque, the app calculates daily prayer times for the location, then applies the local adjustments and congregation times the committee sets. Livestreams of services, talks or classes play inside the app for those who cannot attend.

Apple allows donations inside an app only for approved nonprofit organisations; others link out to a web page. We plan the right route for your status, and the giving page can capture a Gift Aid declaration. Our payment gateway integration work covers the card processing behind it.

Communities we build for

We work with organisations of every background, keeping the design neutral and led by your customs.

  • Churches and chapels sharing service times, home groups and seasonal events.
  • Mosques publishing prayer and congregation times, classes and community announcements.
  • Gurdwaras coordinating programmes, langar volunteers and special occasions.
  • Hindu, Buddhist and other temples listing festivals, ceremonies and classes.
  • Community associations and cultural centres running clubs, courses and hall bookings.

Building your community app, step by step

1

Listen to your committee

We meet the people who run notices, finances and volunteers, and note the customs that should guide the design.

2

Agree content and languages

We list what the app shows, who updates it and which languages it needs.

3

Plan giving and data

We confirm your charitable status, choose in-app or linked giving, and decide how Gift Aid declarations and member details are stored.

4

Design and build

We design clear, calm screens and build the apps plus an easy admin area for volunteers.

5

Soft launch with volunteers

Volunteers and committee members use the app first so we can refine it.

What the app includes

  • iOS and Android apps in your organisation’s name and colours.
  • A calendar of services, prayer times, festivals and events.
  • Livestream playback for services, talks and classes.
  • Groups and volunteer rotas with reminders.
  • Giving screens or a giving link with Gift Aid declaration capture.
  • Content in more than one language, switchable by each user.
  • An admin area that a volunteer can manage without technical knowledge.

Features that make volunteering easier

Scheduling volunteers often falls to one overstretched person. The app holds rotas for welcoming, kitchen duty, cleaning, stewarding or teaching; each volunteer sees their own slots, gets a reminder and can request a swap without the coordinator phoning round.

Groups give each circle its own space, such as a youth club, a women’s group, a study circle or a choir, with notices only its members receive. Each person reads the app in the language they prefer, and admins can post one notice in several languages. If you also need a website that shares the same events, our business website team can connect both to one calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Can the app show our own congregation times rather than generic ones?

Yes. The app calculates daily times for your location, then applies the adjustments and congregation times your committee sets. A volunteer can change them in the admin area, for example when the clocks change, and the app updates for everyone.

We are not a registered charity. Can people still give through the app?

You can still accept gifts, but Apple only allows in-app donations for approved nonprofits, so other organisations link out to a secure web giving page. We set that up so it opens smoothly and returns people to the app afterwards.

Is it hard for volunteers to update?

No. The admin area works like a simple form: type a notice, pick a date, choose who should receive it. We train your volunteers and leave a short written guide for anyone who takes over later.

How do you handle members’ personal details?

We collect only what the app needs, store it securely and let members see and delete their own information. Religious affiliation can be sensitive data under UK GDPR, so we design with extra care and suggest you take advice on your privacy notice.

Can we stream services directly in the app?

Yes. We connect the app to the streaming service you already use, or help you choose one, so live and recorded services play inside the app. Members can get a notification when a stream starts.
