Taxi App Development Manchester

We build own-brand booking apps for private hire and minicab operators in Manchester. Passengers get an app carrying your name, drivers get their own app and controllers get a dispatch dashboard, all designed to work within the conditions of your operator’s licence.

Your own booking app, built around your licence

Passengers now expect a fare estimate, live tracking and card payment. A local operator can offer the same under its own name, keeping the customer relationship and booking data instead of handing both to a platform.

There are three parts. The passenger app books a car now or later, shows an estimated fare, tracks the driver on a map and takes card payment. The driver app receives jobs, hands off to navigation and marks pickup and drop-off. The dispatch dashboard shows every booking and car, assigns jobs automatically or by hand, and takes phone bookings into the same system.

Private hire is licensed. A private hire vehicle cannot be hailed in the street; each booking goes through a licensed operator, and the licensing council attaches conditions such as keeping records of every booking. We build around your operator’s licence and your council’s conditions, so the system keeps what you are required to keep. Confirm the detail with your licensing authority.

Operators this is for

Licensed operators who want to own their bookings. If you move parcels rather than people, see our courier apps.

  • Independent minicab firms in Manchester taking most bookings by phone today.
  • Executive and chauffeur operators with corporate account customers.
  • Airport transfer firms that need flight details on each pre-booked trip.
  • School and contract transport operators running regular booked runs.
  • Operators licensed in more than one Greater Manchester borough.

How we build a taxi booking app

1

Review licence conditions

We read your operator conditions with you and list every record, display and check the system has to support.

2

Set fare and dispatch rules

We agree how fares are estimated, how jobs are offered to drivers and what happens when nobody accepts one.

3

Design three apps

Passenger, driver and controller screens are designed together, with a short booking flow and driver screens readable at a glance.

4

Build or integrate

We build the dispatch system, or connect to the one you already use where it offers an API.

5

Road test and publish

Drivers and controllers run test jobs before passengers see the app, then we release to both stores.

What you get

  • Passenger app with booking, fare estimate, live tracking and card payment.
  • Driver app with job offers, navigation hand-off and trip status.
  • Dispatch dashboard for controllers, including phone bookings.
  • Account customer features with invoicing and authorised bookers.
  • Booking records kept in line with your licence conditions.
  • Driver and vehicle admin with document expiry reminders.

Working with the dispatch system you already have

Plenty of operators are happy with their dispatch software and only want a branded passenger app. Where that system offers an API, we connect to it so bookings land on the screens your controllers already use.

  • App bookings appear in your dispatch system with pickup, destination and notes.
  • Driver position and status flow back to the passenger’s tracking screen.
  • Fares follow your existing tariff, not a second copy that can drift.
  • Account customers keep their references for invoicing.

For firms that want everything new, we build the whole system on an app backend that we host and maintain.

Frequently asked questions

Can we launch a passenger app without an operator’s licence?

No. Private hire bookings must be taken by a licensed operator, so we build for operators who hold a licence or are in the process of getting one. The app goes live only once the licence is in place and its conditions are reflected in the system.

Will the app work with our current dispatch system?

Often, if the system offers an API. We check its documentation and speak to the supplier before you commit. If integration is not available, we say so before quoting and explain the options, including building dispatch as part of the project.

How is the fare estimate calculated?

The app uses a mapping service to get the route distance and time, then applies your tariff rules, such as a base fare, mileage rates, waiting time and airport charges. You change the rules in the dashboard, and the estimate is shown before the passenger confirms.

Can business customers book on account?

Yes. Companies get an account with named people allowed to book, optional booking references, and monthly invoices rather than card payment per trip. Their bookers can see every trip made on the account.

Can passengers pay by card in the app?

Yes, through a payment provider such as Stripe. A taxi ride is a physical service, so the app stores allow ordinary card payment rather than in-app purchase. Passengers can also choose cash where your policy allows, and the driver app records how each trip was paid.
