Personal Trainer App Development Manchester
We build branded coaching apps for personal trainers in Manchester, so clients get their programme, weekly check-ins and messages under your name instead of inside someone else’s platform. You run the whole client list through a web dashboard.

Your coaching business under your own brand
Most PTs juggle a spreadsheet of programmes, a messaging app, a payment link and a calendar. A coaching app puts them in one place. You assign each client a programme, they log sessions, send a weekly check-in with photos and answers to your questions, and message you without leaving the app.
Habit tracking lets clients tick off daily targets you set, such as steps or sessions completed, and you see the streaks on your side. Clients book in-person or video sessions in the slots you open.
The dashboard is where your working day happens: build programmes from templates, clear check-ins as a queue and spot clients who have gone quiet. Gyms running programmes for a whole membership should look at our fitness app service.
Trainers who get the most out of it
The app pays its way when you coach more clients than a spreadsheet comfortably holds.
- Online coaches with clients across the UK they rarely meet in person.
- Hybrid PTs training some clients in a Manchester gym and coaching others remotely.
- Teams of trainers under one brand sharing templates and a client list.
- Specialist running or powerlifting coaches who need sport-specific programme templates.
- Trainers leaving a generic coaching platform who want to own their client data.
How we build a PT app
Walk through your week
We follow how you onboard a client, write a programme and review check-ins, so the app matches your method.
Design the client screens
Today’s session, check-in, chat and booking each sit one tap away.
Build the trainer dashboard
Programme templates, a check-in queue and client notes go on the web, usable on a laptop or tablet.
Map every payment
Each thing you sell is matched to the payment route the store rules allow.
Pilot with current clients
A handful of clients use TestFlight and a Google Play testing track before public release.
Included in the build
- Client app for iPhone and Android in your branding.
- Web dashboard for programmes, check-ins and messages.
- Reusable programme templates.
- Weekly check-in forms with photo upload.
- In-app chat with notifications.
- Session booking against your availability.
- Payments matched to what you sell, plus in-app account deletion.
Getting paid without breaking store rules
Payment is where PT apps most often stall at review. Apple’s guideline 3.1.3(d), person-to-person services, lets real-time one-to-one services between two people be paid for outside in-app purchase. A live session with you, face to face or on video, can be charged through your own card provider.
Pre-recorded digital content is different. A library of workout videos or a ready-made plan sold to anyone generally has to use in-app purchase. A PT app often mixes both, so we settle each route before coding; our app store submission page covers review.
Check-in photos and body measurements may be data concerning health, special category data under UK GDPR. They are encrypted and visible only to you and that client, with consent set up in line with ICO guidance; take legal advice for your own setup. App wording describes your coaching, not results.
Frequently asked questions
Can clients pay for live sessions by card outside the app?
For real-time one-to-one coaching between you and a client, yes, under Apple’s person-to-person services rule. Pre-recorded programmes or video packs sold inside the app generally need in-app purchase. We work out which of your products fall where before building.
Can I reply to clients from my phone?
Yes. As well as the web dashboard, trainers can sign in to a trainer view on their phone to answer messages, review check-ins and confirm bookings. Notifications tell you when a check-in lands, and you can set quiet hours.
Can I move my existing clients and programmes across?
Usually. If your programmes live in spreadsheets or another platform’s export, we import them as templates and invite clients by email. Clients then set their own password, and we never ask you to share their old login details.
Who can see client progress photos?
Only the client and the trainer assigned to them. Photos are stored encrypted, are not saved to the client’s camera roll unless they choose, and are deleted with the account. Other trainers on your team see them only if you grant access.
What happens if I take on more trainers later?
The dashboard supports several trainers with their own client lists, shared templates and an owner view. Adding a trainer is an admin task, not an app update, so the brand can grow without rebuilding anything.
