What a Salford business needs its website to do

One template does not fit a city with this mix of firms. A digital company near MediaCityUK at Salford Quays is judged by clients who commission websites themselves, so speed, type and a clear portfolio matter. A University of Salford spin-out may need to explain a technical product in plain words. A joiner mostly needs a number that rings in one tap and a page for each job.

Around Chapel Street and Greengate, new offices and apartments have brought cafes, gyms and service firms that want customers living a short walk away. For them, opening hours, a map, an enquiry form and real photos do more work than any animation. Most first visits come from a phone, so we lay out each page for the narrow screen first and widen it afterwards.

We build on WordPress so you can change text and photos yourself, following the planning approach on our web design Manchester page.

Working with us from across the Irwell

Much of a website project happens on screen. We share a planning document you can comment on, walk through layouts on video calls with screen sharing, and send staging links to open on your own phone. Quick questions go by email or phone.

Meeting face to face is easy too. Come and see us in M8, or we can visit your premises by arrangement; expect a drive of roughly 10 to 20 minutes each way, depending on traffic and which part of the city you are in.

From first call to a working site

1

Discovery call

We ask who your customers are, what they need to do on the site and what your current one gets wrong. You get a written summary to check.

2

Page plan and wording

We agree the pages, what each must say and who writes it. Our team can draft the copy for you to edit.

3

Layouts on a staging site

Designs are built as real pages on a private address, so you judge them on your phone rather than as flat pictures.

4

Build and device testing

Forms are connected and Google Analytics 4 is set up. We test on iPhone, Android and desktop browsers.

5

Launch and handover

We point the domain, redirect old page addresses, submit the sitemap in Google Search Console and show you how to edit pages.

Included in your new website

  • Phone-first layouts for every page in the agreed plan
  • A WordPress build with an editor you can use without code
  • Enquiry or booking forms with spam filtering and email alerts
  • Page titles, meta descriptions, headings and an XML sitemap
  • Google Analytics 4 and Search Console in your own accounts
  • 301 redirects when we replace an existing site
  • A recorded walkthrough of updating text, images and hours

Pages that firms here tend to need

Some patterns come up again and again.

  • Trades: one page per service, an areas-covered page, photos of finished jobs and a call button that stays visible on phones.
  • Bars, cafes and restaurants: menus as real text rather than PDFs, opening hours and a booking link.
  • Media and digital studios: a portfolio grid that loads quickly, with short written project notes.
  • Start-ups and spin-outs: a product page written for non-specialists and a contact route for press or investors.
  • Retailers in Pendleton: stock categories and delivery or collection details.

If you plan to sell online, our ecommerce website design service covers checkout and payments. If your current site works but looks tired, a website redesign can keep what Google already knows about it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you meet us at our studio near Salford Quays?

Yes. We can visit your premises by arrangement, or you are welcome at our office in Cheetham Hill. Many clients meet once in person and do the rest on video calls.

We are a new university spin-out with hardly any content yet. Is it too early for a website?

Not usually. A short, clear site with a product page, a team page and a contact form is enough to look credible to early customers. We plan the structure so new pages slot in later without a rebuild.

Do we own the website and domain once it is live?

Yes. The domain should be registered in your name, and you get full administrator access to WordPress and your hosting. We hand over every login at launch, so you are never tied to us for changes, renewals or a later move.

Can we update the site ourselves after launch?

Yes. We set up editable blocks for the parts you change most, such as opening hours, menus, team photos and service descriptions. The recorded walkthrough covers each one, and you can message us when something is unclear.
