Quick answers

What is a DTF transfer?

DTF means direct to film. Your artwork is printed in full colour onto a transfer sheet, and each design is then applied to fabric with a heat press. It lets you brand garments and bags yourself, whenever you need them. If you would rather receive finished clothing, see our custom printed T-shirts.

How big is each DTF sheet?

Every sheet is 560mm x 1000mm and printed on one side. You can fill that area with one large design or with lots of separate logos, names and numbers, then cut them apart before pressing. For a layout that needs a different sheet size, ask for a quote.

How much do DTF transfers cost?

One sheet starts at £35.21, two sheets at £57.02 and five at £122.45, so the price per sheet drops as the quantity rises. The configurator on this page shows the live total for your quantity before you add it to the basket. For more than 10 sheets, use Get a Quote.

How many sheets can I order at once?

The Quantity dropdown runs from 1 to 10 sheets per order. Each sheet can carry as many designs as will fit, so ten sheets go a long way for team kit or market stock. Bigger volumes can be arranged if you get in touch with the quantities you need.

What can I press DTF transfers onto?

The photos on this page show transfers on a T-shirt, a tote bag and caps, and other fabric items that fit under a heat press are common choices too. If you would rather we print the items themselves, browse the promotional and clothing range.

Do I need my own heat press?

Yes. DTF transfers arrive as printed sheets, and the designs are applied with heat and pressure. Without a press, the simpler route is to have us print the garments for you: see printed hoodies or cotton tote bags.

How long do DTF transfers take?

Typical turnaround is around 3 working days once your order and artwork are in. Collection from our Manchester studio is available, or choose UK delivery at checkout, where the cost is shown before you pay. The same options apply across the areas we cover.

Asked by buyers 22

Can one sheet carry several different designs?

Yes. A sheet is a 560mm x 1000mm print area, so club crests, sponsor logos, names and numbers can sit side by side. Leave a clear gap around each design so it can be cut out neatly before pressing. If it is your first layout, contact us and we can talk it through.

Is the sheet printed on both sides?

No. DTF transfers are printed single sided, because the printed face is what gets pressed against the garment. If you need a front and a back design for the same shirt, place both on one sheet and press them one after the other.

What size should each design be?

That depends on where it goes. A chest logo, a full back print and a cap front all need different widths, so measure the area on the real garment before you set up the file. Anything that fits inside 560mm x 1000mm can go on a sheet, and spare space can hold more designs. Ideas for placement can be found on our promotional products page.

Can photographs and gradients go on a transfer?

Yes. Sheets are printed in full colour, so logos, gradients and photographic images can sit next to each other. Keep very thin lines and tiny text readable at the size they will be pressed, because they become harder to cut and apply. For printed bags with a photo design, see tote bags with coloured handles.

Can you supply a sheet in another size?

The only size on this page is 560mm x 1000mm. For another format, or a project that needs a lot of sheets, request a price through Get a Quote with the sizes and quantities you have in mind, and we will come back to you with the options.

Does the price per sheet fall when I order more?

Yes. The configurator lists every quantity from 1 to 10 sheets, and the cost per sheet comes down as the quantity rises, so one order of several sheets works out cheaper than several single orders. The total updates live as you change the Quantity dropdown. Compare it with garments already printed in our online shop.

What does a ten-sheet order cost?

Ten sheets start at £231.48, against £35.21 for a single sheet. Those are the figures for the cheapest combination today, and the price on the page always reflects the exact quantity you choose. If you need help with the artwork, the design service is added on top of the print price.

Is anything added at checkout?

The configurator price covers printing your sheets. If you pick the Professional artwork and design service, +£36.00 is added. UK delivery is charged separately and the amount appears at checkout before you pay, and collecting from our studio is also possible. Our about page explains who we are.

What file should I send for DTF printing?

A print-ready PDF or PNG with each design at the size it will be pressed is the safest choice. Remove any background you do not want printed, because a white box around a logo prints as a white box. If the sheet holds several designs, keep them clearly separated. Unsure about a file? Ask us first.

Can you create the artwork for me?

Yes. Choose the Professional artwork and design service in the Artwork dropdown and our team will prepare the design for your sheet. Without it, you supply print-ready artwork free of charge. Tell us what each design should say and how many copies of it you need on the sheet.

Can I print other people's logos on transfers?

You can print any artwork you have the right to use. When you are making kit for a club, a school or a business, make sure they are happy with the design before you order, because each sheet is printed exactly as supplied. For finished branded workwear-style jackets, see custom soft shell jackets.

Will the colours match my brand exactly?

The sheet is printed in full colour from your file, so the closest match comes from artwork set up in the colours your brand guide specifies. Screens show colour differently from fabric, so for a critical colour, press one test piece from your first sheet before committing a whole batch of garments.

How do I apply a DTF transfer?

Cut the design out, position it on the item and press it with a heat press, using the time, temperature and pressure recommended for transfers on that fabric, then peel the film away. Practise on a spare garment first so you know how your press behaves before you start on the real order.

Can I keep sheets and press them later?

Yes, that is a big part of the appeal. Keep the sheets flat, dry and away from heat until you need them, then press designs as orders come in rather than all at once. It suits sellers who keep plain stock and brand it to order, such as those using our Madras tote bags.

Are transfers a good fit for team kit with names and numbers?

They suit it well, because every name and number can sit on one sheet and go onto the matching shirt. List the names in order in your file so nothing is missed, and add one or two spares in case a piece goes wrong in the press. For kids' sizes printed by us, see children's T-shirts.

Can I use transfers on bags as well as clothing?

Yes. The tote bag in the photos on this page was branded with a DTF transfer, and other fabric bags that can go under a heat press work the same way. For bags printed and delivered ready to hand out, see our custom printed bags page.

How do I order DTF transfers?

Choose the number of sheets in the Quantity dropdown, pick an Artwork option and add the sheets to your basket. The price you see is the price you pay for printing. Checkout takes card payments, including Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and you can keep browsing the clothing range first.

Can I buy transfers and printed garments in one order?

Yes. Add the DTF sheets and any printed garments, such as hoodies or polo shirts, to the same basket and pay once at checkout. Each item keeps its own options and its own artwork choice, so a mixed order is no harder to place than a single one.

Can an organisation pay by invoice?

Orders on this page are paid by card at checkout. If your school, club or company needs a written quote or has a purchase order process for a larger run, call 0161 315 1151 or email hello@webprintsigns.co.uk with the details and we will set it up with you.

Can I collect DTF transfers in Manchester?

Yes. Collection is available from our studio at Unit 3, 116 Bury New Road, Manchester M8 8EB, and UK delivery can be chosen at checkout instead. Customers from across the city and the nearby towns use both options; see the areas we cover.

Do you send transfers outside Manchester?

Yes, UK delivery is available for every order. The delivery cost is worked out at checkout and shown before you pay. If you are in Bolton, Stockport, Oldham or elsewhere in Greater Manchester, collecting from the studio on Bury New Road is another option.

When will my sheets be ready?

Typical turnaround is around 3 working days from the order, assuming your artwork is ready to print. If you choose the artwork service, allow some extra time for the design work before printing starts. For anything with a fixed event date, mention the date when you order so we can plan around it.
