Getting seen on School Road and around The Square

School Road is the main shopping street, and people walking it tend to glance at shop fronts rather than study them. A sign there has to read from across the road and at an angle, not only straight on. That means fewer words and lettering sized for the real viewing distance.

Units inside a shopping centre are a different case. The landlord often sets rules on size, colour and lighting. Independents on side streets have the opposite problem: they need a projecting sign or strong window graphics so shoppers on the main street notice them at all.

Signs may need advertisement consent from the council, especially when illuminated or in a conservation area, and we check this with you before anything is made. Landlord permission may be needed as well. The full range of options is shown on our shop signs Manchester page.

Surveying and fitting at your Sale premises

Signs are the one service where we always come to you. A member of our team visits by arrangement, roughly 30 to 35 minutes from our M8 office via the A56 or M60, traffic allowing. We measure the fascia, check what the wall or existing board is made of and where the solid fixing points are, and note access details such as parking for the van, pavement width and whether a tower or ladders are needed.

Design and approvals are then handled by email, phone or WhatsApp. Production goes through our production network, and our fitters install on an agreed date.

From survey to finished frontage

1

Measured site survey

We record sizes, materials, fixing points, power for lighting and access, with photographs for reference.

2

Design on your frontage

We place the design onto a photo of your actual shop front so you can judge size, colour and spacing.

3

Permissions checked together

We go through consent and landlord approval with you and supply drawings if an application is needed.

4

Making the sign

After you sign off the final artwork, it is produced through our production network in the agreed materials.

5

Fitting by our fitters

The old sign is removed if required, the new one is fixed to the points identified at survey and the area around it is made good.

What the job includes

  • A measured survey with photographs of the premises
  • Artwork and a mock-up on a photo of your frontage
  • Advice on materials such as aluminium composite panel, acrylic built-up letters and printed or cut vinyl
  • A check on advertisement consent and landlord approval before production
  • Installation by our fitters with fixings chosen for your wall or fascia

What we check first on a Sale shop front

A good sign starts with the building it is going on.

  • The existing fascia: older timber boards hidden behind a newer panel can be rotten, which we want to find before fixing anything.
  • The neighbours: how the new sign will line up with those on either side, which matters on a parade of shops.
  • Lighting: trough lights, halo-lit letters or no lighting at all, depending on your hours, particularly for food and drink venues open into the evening.
  • The glass: how much window can carry graphics while keeping the inside visible.

Many shops pair a new fascia with window graphics, and evening businesses often ask about illuminated signs as well.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need permission for a new shop sign in Sale?

Possibly. Signs may need advertisement consent from the council, especially when illuminated or in a conservation area, and we check this with you before anything is made. If you rent, your landlord may need to approve the design too. Take advice for your own premises.

Can the sign be fitted outside trading hours so our shop stays open?

Yes, by arrangement. Fits on busy shopping streets are often booked early in the morning before customers arrive or after closing. We agree the time with you at survey stage, once we know what access equipment is needed.

Will you come out to Sale to measure before quoting?

We can give a guide figure from photos and rough sizes, but the final fixed quote follows a survey at your premises. Measuring in person avoids surprises with the wall, the fixing points or access, and the visit is booked at a time that suits you.

Which material lasts best for an outdoor fascia?

Aluminium composite panel is a common choice because it stays flat, copes with the weather and takes printed or cut vinyl well. We recommend options at survey based on your wall and how the sign will be lit.

Can you reuse the frame or lighting from our old sign?

Sometimes. If the existing frame is sound and the lights work safely, a new face panel can be fitted to it. We check the condition at survey and tell you honestly whether reuse makes sense or whether a fresh start would last longer.
