Guide
Should your wedding website have a password?
A password keeps your details away from strangers, but every barrier costs you replies. Here is when it is worth it, how to choose one guests remember, and the alternatives.

When
When a password makes sense
If none of these apply, skip it. Most wedding websites are only found by the people you send the link to.
- Your venue address and dates are something you would rather not publish.
- You are sharing a gallery or a livestream link.
- The site will be shared well beyond the guest list, for example on social media.
Choosing one
Passwords guests actually remember
Make it something every guest already knows, written in lower case, with no symbols. Print it on the invitation next to the QR code.
- Your surnames joined: khanandpatel
- The month and year: june2027
- Your venue’s town: harrogate
- A family word everyone uses, if it is not embarrassing
Alternatives
Better than one shared password
Per-guest invitations give each household its own link, which opens only their events. Nobody has to remember a password, and you can still keep private details private. This is how our Signature and Couture sites handle multi-event weddings.
If you only need the QR code on your stationery, you can create a wedding RSVP QR code here.

Questions
Password questions
Will a password stop guests replying?
It can. Every extra step loses some replies, so put the password on the invitation and keep it simple.
Is a funny password a good idea?
Only if every guest will get it right first time. Spelling and spaces trip people up.
Can only some events be private?
Yes, with per-guest invitations: each household sees only the events they are invited to.
