Quick answers

How many parts can an NCR book have?

Choose 2 Part NCR, 3 Part NCR or 4 Part NCR, with 4 part as the standard specification. The top copy is always white, and you then pick colours for the second, third and bottom copies. For loose sets without a book cover, see Carbonless (NCR) Sets.

How much do NCR books cost?

A single book starts at £74.04 on the cheapest combination of options, while 10 books start at £214.34 and 50 start at £537.65. Your size, parts, print, drilling and cover choices set the live price shown in the configurator. For more than 1000 books, request a quote.

Are the NCR books numbered?

Yes. Numbering is included as standard and starts at 1. That gives every set its own reference, which helps when you match invoices or delivery notes to payments later. If you need a different starting number, raise it through the contact page before you order.

What sizes are NCR books made in?

Four sizes: A4, A5, A6 and DL. A4 suits detailed job sheets, A5 is a common invoice size, A6 fits receipts and DL works for narrow order slips. Choose Short Edge or Long Edge binding to set which way the book opens. More on uses is on our NCR books Manchester page.

How long do NCR books take?

Around 9 working days is typical. Allow for delivery on top, or collect from our Manchester studio at Unit 3, 116 Bury New Road, Manchester M8 8EB. Order before your current books run out so the new ones arrive in time. Towns we serve are on our areas we cover page.

Which copy colours can I choose?

The top copy is white. The 2nd copy can be Green, Yellow, Blue, Pink or White; the 3rd copy can be Blue, Pink, Yellow, White or Green; the bottom copy can be Pink, Blue, Green, Yellow or White. Copies you don't use can be set to None. Colour-coding helps send each copy to the right person. See receipt books for ideas.

Can NCR books be printed in colour?

Yes. Sides Printed offers Black Only Double Sided (the standard), Black Only Single Sided, Full Colour Single Sided, and Full Colour Face Black only reverse Double Sided. Full colour lets your logo appear in brand colours, while black only keeps forms plain and simple. Matching Letterheads carry the same branding.

What is the difference between 2, 3 and 4 part books?

Each part is one copy. A 2 part book gives an original and one copy, 3 part adds a second copy, and 4 part gives four sheets per set. Match the parts to the number of people who need a copy: customer, office, accounts and file, for example. For pads instead of bound books, see Carbonless (NCR) Pads.

What is NCR paper?

NCR stands for no carbon required. Writing on the top sheet transfers the marks to the sheets underneath without a carbon layer between them, so every part of the set records the same details. It is the usual way to make handwritten duplicates. Our invoice book printing page covers invoice books in more detail.

What is the book cover made from?

The Cover Material dropdown offers White or Manilla. Manilla is the familiar buff-coloured card, while White gives a cleaner look that sits well with full colour branding. Pick whichever suits the style of your paperwork; the live price shows any difference between them.

Is the top copy always white?

Yes. NCR Top Copy Colour is fixed at White on this page. The colour choices apply to the 2nd, 3rd and bottom copies only. Many businesses hand the white top copy to the customer and keep the coloured ones for the office and accounts.

Should I bind on the short edge or the long edge?

Short Edge binding means the book opens along the narrow side, like a notepad flipping upward; Long Edge opens sideways like a paperback. Short edge is common for portrait forms written on a desk or clipboard, and long edge often suits landscape layouts. Check your form layout before you choose.

What are the drilling options for?

Drilling adds holes so the torn-out copies can be filed in a ring binder or lever arch file. Choose None, 2 hole or 4 hole. If your office files copies straight away, drilling saves punching each sheet by hand. Other filing-friendly items are in the stationery category.

What do 100 NCR books cost?

On the cheapest options, 90 or 100 books both come to £656.64, so ordering 100 gives you ten extra books for the same figure. 200 books start at £1,145.81. Your own options set the live price. For lighter-use forms, compare purchase order pads.

How many sets are in each book?

The number of sets per book is not listed on this page, so check with the team before ordering if it matters for your stock planning. The Quantity dropdown counts books, from 1 up to 1000. Contact us with your expected monthly use and the team can help you choose a quantity.

Can I order just one NCR book?

Yes, the Quantity dropdown starts at 1, then 2, 5 and 10, rising in steps to 1000. A single book suits a sole trader trying a new invoice layout, while a larger run keeps a whole team supplied. See our receipt books in Manchester page for another common format.

What should I put on my NCR form?

Your business name, logo, address and contact details at the top, then the fields you need: date, customer, item descriptions, quantities, prices and totals. Add terms on the reverse if you choose a double sided print. If you want the form laid out for you, the Professional artwork and design service costs +£36.00. See invoice books for examples.

How do I supply artwork for a multi-part book?

Supply a print-ready PDF at the finished size, such as A5 or A4. If each copy carries different wording, like Customer Copy and Office Copy, mention it when you get in touch so the parts are set up correctly. For help with a multi-part file, use the contact page.

Can the design service lay out a delivery note book?

Yes. Choose the Professional artwork and design service at the artwork step and send the details you want on the form, such as your logo, column headings and terms. The layout is produced at the size you pick. Our delivery notes page covers this paperwork in more detail.

How do I order NCR books?

Work through the dropdowns: Size, Paper Type, Sides Printed, Drilling, the binding edge, Cover Material, the copy colours and Quantity. The price refreshes as you go. Choose your artwork option, add the books to your cart and pay by card; Stripe accepts Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. More items are in the shop.

Can I order different forms in one checkout?

Yes. Configure an invoice book and add it to your cart, then configure a delivery note book with its own artwork and add that too. Each line is priced on its own options, and you pay for all of them at one checkout. For a quotation layout, see quotation pads.

Can NCR books be delivered?

Yes, UK delivery is available, and the cost appears at checkout before you pay. Customers near Manchester can collect from the Bury New Road studio instead, which suits a tradesperson passing through. The full list of places we serve is under areas we cover.

When can I collect my books?

Allow around 9 working days for production before collecting from Unit 3, 116 Bury New Road, Manchester M8 8EB. If you are down to your last few forms, order early so new stock is ready before you run out. Call 0161 315 1151 if you want to check on an order.

Who uses carbonless books?

Tradespeople, builders, garages, couriers, cleaners, shops and service engineers all use them for invoices, quotes, job sheets and receipts written on site. The customer takes the top copy and the business keeps the rest. For van branding to match your paperwork, see our van graphics service.

Can I use NCR books for job sheets?

Yes. An A4 job sheet book gives room for the site address, work done, materials used and a customer signature, with copies for the customer, office and engineer on a 3 part book. For loose-leaf versions, compare NCR Pads.

What is the difference between NCR books, pads and sets?

Books come with a cover and numbered sets, which suits forms filled in on the move. Pads and sets are the other formats, each on its own page with its own options. Compare NCR Pads and NCR Sets to see which layout fits how your team works.

Do NCR books suit a shop for receipts?

Yes. An A6 or DL book with 2 parts gives a top copy for the customer and a copy you keep. That makes a tidy paper record of cash sales and refunds. See our receipt books Manchester page for more on this format.

Can I use NCR books for purchase orders?

Yes. A 3 part book gives one copy to send out, one for accounts and one for the file. Numbering gives each order its own reference, which makes chasing and matching invoices easier. See purchase order pads for another format.
