Questions & answers

Personalised Bookmarks: your questions answered

Quick answers

What sizes are personalised bookmarks available in?

There are five sizes: 51mm x 152mm, 55mm x 150mm, 55mm x 170mm, 55mm x 210mm and 70mm x 210mm. The 70mm x 210mm option gives the widest canvas for a cover image or event details. For a width or length not on that list, send your measurements through Get a Quote.

How much do personalised bookmarks cost?

Five bookmarks start at £34.25, and 100 bookmarks start at £36.79, both on the cheapest combination of size, card and finish. The jump between quantities is gentle, so longer runs work out far cheaper per piece. The configurator shows the live total for your choices, and the stationery range follows the same pricing approach.

Which card should I choose for a bookmark?

The standard specification is 350gsm Art Board Silk Finish, printed Single Sided. Ten stocks are listed in total, including 300gsm Kraft, 375gsm Woven Bamboo, 350gsm Pearl and 300gsm Uncoated Cotton. If you are unsure which suits your design, ask the team before you order.

Can bookmarks be printed on both sides?

Yes. Switch Sides Printed from Single Sided to Double Sided and you can use the back for a quote, a reading list, opening hours or a website address. The front then carries the main image. Book-themed Postcards are another way to use the same artwork.

How long does bookmark printing take?

Typical production is around 4 working days. Treat that as a guide, and add delivery time if you are not collecting. If the bookmarks are for a book launch, signing or school event on a fixed date, check the timing with us through the contact page before ordering.

Should I add lamination to my bookmarks?

Lamination adds a protective layer on both sides, which helps a bookmark that will be handled and slipped in and out of pages. Choose Both Sides (Matt), Both Sides (Gloss) or Both Sides (Soft Touch), or None for an unlaminated card. Other laminated print, such as Laminated Flyers, uses similar finishes.

Can I collect bookmarks from Manchester?

Yes. Collection is from Unit 3, 116 Bury New Road, Manchester M8 8EB. Alternatively, UK delivery is available, with the cost shown at checkout before you pay. The areas we cover page lists the surrounding towns we work with regularly.

Asked by buyers 21

Is there a recycled card option for bookmarks?

Yes, 350gsm Recycled Uncoated is in the Paper Type dropdown. Several other natural-looking stocks are listed too, including 325gsm Hemp Blend, 300gsm Natural Uncoated and 375gsm Woven Bamboo. Pick the one that best matches the tone of your book or brand, and see Recycled Business Cards if you want matching cards.

What does 300gsm Kraft suit?

Kraft has a brown, natural look that sits well with rustic, handmade or craft branding, such as a bookshop café, a market stall or a stationery maker. Bold, simple artwork usually works best on it. If you want to test the look across your packaging too, see Printed Paper Bags.

Which stock is the heaviest?

375gsm Woven Bamboo is the heaviest option in the list. Next come the 350gsm stocks: Art Board Silk Finish, Recycled Uncoated, Textured Linen and Pearl. The 300gsm and 325gsm options are a little lighter. Heavier card gives a more substantial bookmark in the hand.

Can I laminate a textured or uncoated bookmark?

The Lamination dropdown sits alongside every paper choice, so the configurator will let you price it. Lamination covers the surface, so the texture of a stock such as 350gsm Textured Linen will be less noticeable. If texture is the reason you picked the card, None is usually the better finish. For advice on a particular pairing, contact the team.

Which bookmark size fits a paperback?

The narrower 51mm x 152mm and 55mm x 150mm sizes sit neatly in most paperbacks without poking out too far. The 55mm x 210mm and 70mm x 210mm sizes are longer and suit hardbacks, larger books or a design with plenty of text. Measure a typical book you expect readers to use before you choose.

Can I have rounded corners or a tassel hole?

Neither is listed as an option on this page. The dropdowns cover size, paper type, sides printed, lamination and quantity. If you want a shaped bookmark, a hole for a ribbon or another extra, describe it on the quote request form and the team will price the job.

What is the smallest bookmark order?

The smallest order is 5 bookmarks, which is handy for testing a design or giving a few as personal gifts. From there the Quantity dropdown steps to 10, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 500, 1000 and 2000. One design is printed across the whole quantity.

What do 1000 bookmarks cost?

On the cheapest combination, 1000 bookmarks start at £53.54, and 2000 start at £72.19. Those figures come from the lowest-priced size, card and finish, so your own selections will change them. The configurator updates as you go. Promotional items to price alongside them are on our promotional products page.

Is it worth ordering more bookmarks than I need?

Often it is, because the price between quantities rises slowly. Compare a few quantities in the dropdown and you will see the cost per bookmark drop as the run grows. Spare bookmarks are easy to store and hand out at later events, readings or school visits.

How should I set up bookmark artwork?

Build a print-ready PDF at the exact size you picked, for example 55mm x 210mm, in portrait. Keep text and logos away from the edges, and use high-resolution images so photos stay sharp on a tall, narrow layout. If you are designing both sides, supply them as two pages in the same file.

Can you design my bookmark from a book cover?

Yes. Choose the Professional artwork and design service (+£36.00) and send the cover image, title, author name and any text you want on the back. The design is then laid out to suit your chosen size. Authors often order business cards with the same design for signings.

Can each bookmark have a different name?

This product prints one design across the quantity you choose. For a handful of different designs, add each one to your cart as a separate item with its own file. Variable data, such as a different name on every bookmark, is a custom job, so ask about it through Get a Quote.

How do I order personalised bookmarks online?

Pick the size, paper type, sides printed, lamination and quantity, and watch the total change as you go. Choose to supply your own artwork for free or add the design service, then add to cart. Payment is by card through Stripe, with Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay accepted. Other items are in the print shop.

Do you deliver bookmarks across the UK?

Yes. Bookmarks can be sent to any UK address, and the delivery cost is added at checkout before you pay. Readers in and around Manchester can collect from the studio on Bury New Road. There is also a second studio at 20 Burnley Road, Brierfield BB9 5HS.

Who prints the bookmarks?

WEB PRINT & SIGNS LIMITED in Manchester, a print, signs and web company trading since 2003. You can call 0161 315 1151, message on WhatsApp at 07737 902425 or email hello@webprintsigns.co.uk with any question. Find out more about Web Print Signs.

Are bookmarks a good giveaway for an author launch?

Yes. A bookmark with the cover, a short line from the blurb and where to buy the book keeps working long after the event. Readers use it every time they open a book. For the launch invitations themselves, see Invitations.

How do bookshops and libraries use printed bookmarks?

Bookshops slip one into every purchase with their name, website and opening hours, and libraries use them to promote reading challenges, events and new arrivals. A double sided bookmark gives room for both a design and practical details. Matching poster printing helps advertise the same campaign in store.

Can schools use bookmarks as rewards?

They work well as reading rewards, house point prizes or a welcome gift for new pupils. Print the school crest on one side and a reading tracker or motto on the other. Schools also order certificates for the same reward schemes.

Are bookmarks suitable as a business promotional item?

Yes, especially for firms whose customers read, such as tutors, publishers, opticians, cafés and charities. A bookmark is kept and seen often, so your logo and contact details stay in front of people. Our promotional products Manchester page lists other branded giveaways.

Can I use bookmarks as wedding or event favours?

Yes. Couples often print a photo, names and the date, while memorial services use a picture and a short verse. Choose a stock such as 350gsm Pearl or 350gsm Textured Linen to suit the occasion. For the place cards and stationery around it, see our invitation printing page.

Do bookmarks work inside a product parcel?

They do. Online sellers of books, journals or gifts often add a bookmark to every order as a thank-you with their shop name and a discount code. It costs little per parcel and travels flat. Branded Custom Mailer Boxes finish the unboxing.
