Quick answers

What sizes can I print postcards in?

The size dropdown offers A6, A5, 1/3 A4 (DL) and Square 148mm x 148mm. A6 is the traditional postcard size, A5 gives a bigger canvas for offers and artwork, DL is long and slim, and the square reads as modern. For a size not on the list, request it through Get a Quote.

Which paper should I choose for postcards?

There are eight stocks, from the standard 350gsm Art Board Silk Finish to 300gsm Textured Uncoated, 300gsm Natural Uncoated, 350gsm Recycled Uncoated and 300gsm Brown Kraft. Silk and gloss papers show photos well, while the uncoated stocks are easier to write on with a pen. For thicker promotional handouts, compare Flyers.

How much are printed postcards?

Postcards start at £35.62 for 25 on the cheapest combination. On the cheapest settings, 1000 cost £70.46, while 750 show as £208.58, so always compare neighbouring quantities in the configurator before you buy. The live price updates as you change size, paper, sides and lamination. More card products sit in the Cards & Invitations category.

What is the turnaround on postcards?

Postcards are usually produced in around 3 working days. Use that as a guide, not a deadline, and allow extra time for delivery unless you collect from Manchester. If a mailing has a fixed drop date, let us know before ordering.

Can postcards be used for direct mail?

Yes, postcards are a common direct mail format because the message is seen without an envelope being opened. Put the offer on one side and the address panel and details on the other with Double Sided printing. Our direct mail Manchester page explains how mailings can be planned.

Can you design my postcard?

Yes. The Professional artwork and design service is £36.00 and covers the layout of your postcard. If you already have a print-ready file, supplying it is free. Read more about local postcard work on our postcard printing Manchester page.

Do artists print their work as postcards?

Many Manchester artists, illustrators and photographers do, selling them at markets, galleries and online, or using them as a leave-behind at exhibitions. A run of 25 or 50 per image keeps the cost down while you test designs. For larger prints of the same artwork, see Heavyweight Art Prints.

Asked by buyers 22

Is A6 the right size for a mailed postcard?

A6 is the classic postcard size and fits through letterboxes easily, which is why most mailers use it. A5 gives twice the area for a bold offer or a map. If you are sending in an envelope instead, the size matters less. Ask the team about postage questions on our contact page.

What can a DL postcard be used for?

The 1/3 A4 (DL) size is long and narrow, which suits price lists, opening hours, event line-ups and appointment reminders. It also fits standard DL envelopes. For a folded DL handout with more panels, see Folded Leaflets.

Do I need double sided printing on a postcard?

Single sided suits art cards and display prints where the back is left blank or written on by hand. Double Sided, the standard specification, lets you use the back for an address panel, an offer or contact details. The configurator shows how much each choice changes the price.

Can I choose a postcard template instead of my own design?

This product is set to Use your own design, so you supply print-ready artwork or choose the Professional artwork and design service for £36.00. If you would like design ideas before committing, the team can talk through the options by phone on 0161 315 1151.

What is the difference between Textured Uncoated and Natural Uncoated?

Both are 300gsm uncoated papers, so neither has a shiny coated surface, and both take a pen well. The names point to the difference in feel: Textured Uncoated is the one to pick if you want a surface with character, and Natural Uncoated for a plainer uncoated sheet. For textured cards to match, see Textured Business Cards.

Is gloss lamination worth it on postcards?

One Side (Gloss) adds shine to one face, which suits a photo or product shot on the front. The other side stays unlaminated, so you can still write an address or message. Choose None if you want an uncoated or Kraft card to keep its natural feel.

Which postcard paper works for a vintage look?

300gsm Brown Kraft gives an aged, natural tone that suits vintage, travel and handmade designs. 350gsm Recycled Uncoated is another soft, unshiny option. Keep artwork high contrast so it reads clearly on the brown stock. Matching Swing Tags also come in Kraft.

Which paper is best for photographic postcards?

250gsm Art Paper Gloss Finish and the silk papers are good for photos, as their smooth coated surfaces keep detail crisp. For a thicker card, choose 350gsm Art Board Silk Finish and add One Side (Gloss) for extra shine. Uncoated stocks give a softer look to photos.

What is the minimum postcard order?

Twenty-five is the smallest quantity, which suits an artist's sample batch or a personal project. The dropdown then goes up through 50, 100 and 250 to 2000. On the cheapest settings, 500 postcards come to £64.51.

How many postcards should I print for a door-to-door drop?

Count the households or businesses in your target streets and add a margin for handouts. A few hundred suits a single neighbourhood, while 1000 or 2000 covers wider areas. For a hanging alternative that stays on the door, look at Door Hangers.

Can I order a larger quantity than 2000?

The online dropdown stops at 2000. For bigger campaigns, several designs in one run or a custom stock, send the details through Get a Quote and the team will price the job for you.

How do I set up postcard artwork?

Create a print-ready PDF at the finished size you chose, with the front as page one and the back as page two if double sided. Keep important text clear of the edges. If you are designing an address side, leave a blank area for the address and stamp. The team can answer file questions.

What makes a postcard promotion work?

One clear offer, a strong image and an easy next step, such as a phone number, a QR code or a short web address. Track responses with a unique code on the card. If you are sending people to a website, our landing page design service can build a page for the campaign.

How do I place a postcard order?

Pick the size, paper type, sides printed, lamination and quantity, and the price updates live. Then choose your artwork option, add the postcards to your cart and check out by card. Stripe handles Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Can I add postcards to an order with other print?

Yes, every product goes into the same cart, so postcards, flyers and posters can be paid for together. Browse the full range in the shop. Each item keeps its own options and artwork.

Can postcards be collected rather than delivered?

Yes, collection is available from Unit 3, 116 Bury New Road, Manchester M8 8EB. Message on WhatsApp at 07737 902425 or call 0161 315 1151 before setting off. If you need them sent, UK delivery is chosen at checkout and the cost is shown there.

Do you deliver postcards across Greater Manchester and beyond?

Yes, delivery covers the whole UK, with the charge shown at checkout before payment. The areas we cover page lists the Greater Manchester towns we serve, from Bolton to Wigan and Ashton-under-Lyne.

Can cafes use postcards to promote offers?

Yes. A stack of A6 cards by the till can announce a loyalty scheme, a new menu or an event night. Customers pocket them and come back. For printed menus to go alongside, see our menu printing Manchester service.

Are postcards good as appointment cards or reminders?

They are. Salons, dentists and trades can print a reminder design with space to handwrite the date, using an uncoated paper that takes a pen well. For wallet-sized versions, our business cards Manchester service is a good fit.

Can I use postcards as event invitations?

Yes, a printed postcard makes a quick, low-cost invitation for an open evening, a gallery launch or a community event. For a heavier invitation with laminate and envelopes, our Invitations product offers both-side lamination and an envelope option.

Can I put a postcard in every online order?

A thank-you postcard in each parcel is a cheap way to ask for a repeat order, share a discount code or point to your social pages. Order 250 or 500 so you have stock to hand. For a branded box to send them in, look at Custom Mailer Boxes.

Can postcards be printed on recycled stock?

Yes, 350gsm Recycled Uncoated is one of the eight paper types. It has a natural uncoated surface that is easy to write on. Combine it with no lamination to keep that feel. For a full recycled range, see Recycled Business Cards.
