Quick answers

What sizes can perfect bound booklets be printed in?

Eight sizes are listed: A6 Portrait, DL Portrait, A5 Portrait, A5 Landscape, 148mm Square, 210mm Square, A4 Portrait and A4 Landscape. A4 Portrait is the usual choice for reports and catalogues, while A6 and DL suit pocket guides and slim product books. For a trim size not on the list, ask through Get a Quote.

How many pages can a perfect bound booklet have?

Between 40 and 88, set in the Pagecount dropdown in steps of 4. Perfect binding glues the pages into a squared spine, giving a book-like finish. If your document runs past 88 pages, Hardback Books take up to 192 inner pages with a hard cover.

How much do perfect bound booklets cost?

The cheapest starting point is £193.80 for 25 booklets. Bigger runs cost less per copy: 500 booklets start at £1,082.86 and 5000 at £3,454.20 on the cheapest combination of options. The configurator shows the live price for the size, paper, cover, lamination and page count you choose. Other binding methods sit in the booklets and brochures range.

What is the turnaround on perfect bound booklets?

Typical production is around 5 working days. Use that as a guide rather than a deadline, and add delivery time if the booklets are being sent rather than collected. For a conference, AGM or product launch on a fixed date, talk to the team before ordering.

Which cover stock should I choose?

The Cover Material dropdown has five stocks: 250gsm Art Paper in Gloss Finish or Silk Finish, 300gsm Art Paper in Gloss Finish or Silk Finish, and 250gsm Uncoated. The 300gsm options give a heavier cover, while 250gsm Uncoated has no coated sheen and pairs naturally with uncoated pages. Our brochure printing Manchester page has more help choosing.

What paper is used for the inside pages?

The standard is 120gsm Uncoated, a plain paper without a coated sheen. Twelve other papers are available: Premium Smooth White Paper in 90gsm and 170gsm, plus Art Paper in 100gsm, 115gsm, 130gsm, 150gsm and 170gsm, each in Gloss Finish or Silk Finish. For loose inserts on a matching stock, see Uncoated Flyers.

Can I collect perfect bound booklets?

Yes, from our Manchester studio at Unit 3, 116 Bury New Road, Manchester M8 8EB. If you prefer delivery, it is available across the UK, and the cost shows at checkout before you pay. The areas we cover page lists the towns around Greater Manchester we work in.

Asked by buyers 22

Gloss or silk art paper for a product catalogue?

Gloss Finish gives product photos extra shine and punch, while Silk Finish has a softer sheen that suits pages mixing photos with descriptions and prices. Both come in 100gsm, 115gsm, 130gsm, 150gsm and 170gsm. Move up the weights if you want each page to feel more substantial, bearing in mind that the price rises with heavier stock.

What does soft touch lamination add?

One Side (Soft Touch) gives a smooth, velvety feel to the laminated surface, a popular pick for premium catalogues and brand books. The other choices are One Side (Gloss), One Side (Matt) and None. For other print with a tactile, premium finish, see our luxury business cards.

When is 90gsm Premium Smooth White Paper the right choice?

It suits text-heavy booklets with many pages, such as manuals, novels, training guides and policy documents, because it is the lightest paper offered. The 170gsm version of the same paper is much heavier and better for fewer, image-led pages. For a lay-flat binding on the same 90gsm stock, see Wiro Bound Booklets.

Can I leave out lamination?

Yes, pick None in the Lamination dropdown. It pairs well with the 250gsm Uncoated cover if you want a natural, uncoated look from front to back. Laminating one side is the alternative when you want a gloss, matt or soft touch surface, and the live price shows the difference straight away.

What is the DL Portrait size good for?

DL is the tall, slim format shared with many leaflets, which makes the booklet easy to slip into a jacket pocket or a display rack. As a perfect bound booklet it suits price guides, visitor guides, slim programmes and drinks lists. If you also need DL leaflets to promote it, see our leaflet printing Manchester service.

Can I get a square perfect bound booklet?

Yes, two square sizes are listed: 148mm Square and 210mm Square. Square formats suit lookbooks, photography collections and design portfolios. The 210mm option gives more room for images, while 148mm is compact and easy to post or hand out. Both work with every paper, cover and lamination option on the page.

Is A6 big enough for a booklet?

A6 Portrait is pocket sized, so it works for festival guides, recipe booklets, product instructions and staff handbooks where portability matters more than page space. With up to 88 pages there is still plenty of room for content at that size. If you need a larger page, A5 Portrait is the next step up in the Size dropdown.

Can I mix papers for the cover and inside?

Yes. Cover Material and Paper Type are separate dropdowns, so a 300gsm Art Paper Gloss Finish cover can sit over 120gsm Uncoated pages, for instance. Changing either one updates the live price straight away. To compare this format against other bindings, browse the booklets and brochures category.

How much are 1000 perfect bound booklets?

On the cheapest combination of options, 1000 booklets start at £1,981.06 and 2000 at £2,406.89, so doubling the run adds comparatively little. Your real total depends on the size, paper, cover, lamination and page count, and the configurator shows it live as you make each choice.

What is the minimum order for perfect bound booklets?

The Quantity dropdown starts at 25 booklets and climbs to 5000. If you only need one or two copies of a short document, Heavyweight Saddle Stitched Booklets can be ordered from a single copy, though they top out at 16 pages.

Can I order more than 5000 booklets?

5000 is the highest listed quantity. For a bigger run, or for numbers between the steps such as 1500 or 3500, request a price through Get a Quote with your size, page count, cover and paper so the figure reflects the exact job.

How does the page count affect the price?

Each step up the Pagecount dropdown adds four pages to every copy, and the live price moves with it. Paper weight, cover stock and lamination also play a part. Because all of these feed the same total, it is worth trying a couple of combinations to find the balance between page count and budget.

How do I set up artwork for a perfect bound booklet?

Supply a print-ready PDF of the pages at the finished size, in reading order. A perfect bound book has a squared spine, so the cover layout depends on the page count and paper you choose. If you are unsure how to build the cover, contact the team before uploading.

Can you lay out my catalogue or report?

Yes. Pick the Professional artwork and design service at the artwork stage; its price is shown on the option. Send your text, product photos and logo and the layout is built for you. It fits product catalogues, annual reports and course guides well. For stationery in the same style, see Letterheads.

Do I pay extra to supply my own files?

No. The print-ready option, where you upload your own artwork, is free. It is the natural route if your designer has already prepared the pages, or if you are reprinting an existing catalogue with updated prices. A print-ready PDF at the finished size is the format to aim for.

How do I order perfect bound booklets online?

Set the Size, Paper Type, Lamination, Cover Material, Pagecount and Quantity dropdowns; the price follows each change. Choose whether you are supplying artwork or using the design service, add the booklets to your cart and check out by card through Stripe, which takes Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Browse the print shop for anything else.

Who is behind Web Print Signs?

WEB PRINT & SIGNS LIMITED is a Manchester print, signs and web company trading since 2003. Alongside booklets, the team produces signage, vehicle graphics and websites. Call 0161 315 1151 or email hello@webprintsigns.co.uk, or read more about Web Print Signs and how the business works.

Do you send perfect bound booklets across the UK?

Yes. Delivery is available to any UK address, and the cost appears at checkout once you enter it. If you are in or near Manchester you can collect instead. For large runs that need splitting across several sites, list the addresses when you ask for a quote.

What are perfect bound booklets used for?

Company reports, product catalogues, magazines, course handbooks, staff manuals and self-published books are typical uses. The squared spine gives a neat, book-like finish that a stapled booklet cannot match. Our brochure insert printing service covers loose price lists and updates to slip inside.

Can I self-publish a book with perfect binding?

Yes, perfect binding is a common choice for softback self-published books, poetry and short story collections. A5 Portrait with 90gsm Premium Smooth White Paper and a 300gsm cover is a sensible starting point. If your book runs beyond 88 pages, Hardback Books go up to 192 inner pages.

Are perfect bound booklets suitable for a magazine?

Yes. A perfect bound magazine feels more substantial than a stapled one, which suits quarterly or annual titles. A4 Portrait with gloss art paper inside and a 250gsm or 300gsm gloss cover is a typical magazine set-up. To announce each new issue, Flyers are a quick, low-cost companion.

What pairs well with a catalogue sent to trade customers?

A presentation folder keeps the catalogue together with price lists and order forms, and a printed envelope makes the mailing look consistent from the moment it lands. See Interlocking Folders and our envelope printing service.
