Quick answers

Which papers can I choose for heavyweight art prints?

Two papers are offered: 350gsm Recycled Uncoated, which is the standard specification, and 300gsm Premium Smooth White Paper. Choose by the look you want: uncoated or smooth white, and 350gsm or 300gsm. For a finished wall piece without framing, compare our Canvas Print page.

What sizes are available?

You can order A5, A4 or A3. A5 suits postcards-style prints and small frames, A4 is the everyday print size for portfolios and gallery sales, and A3 gives more presence on a wall. For bigger art posters, look at our large format poster printing service.

How much do heavyweight art prints cost?

A single print starts at £19.87 on the cheapest size and paper combination. The price per print falls quickly as you add copies, and 25 prints come to £44.09 on that same cheapest basis. The configurator shows the live price for your exact size and paper. Browse the whole posters and art prints range for other formats.

Are the prints double sided?

No, every heavyweight art print is printed single sided. That keeps the back clean for signing, numbering or writing a certificate of authenticity by hand. If you need two-sided printing for something like a postcard, see our postcard printing service.

How long do art prints take?

Production is typically around 2 working days. Use that as a guide, not a fixed date, and allow for delivery unless you collect from our Manchester studio. If you are printing for an exhibition opening, let us know the date when you order.

Can I order a single art print?

Yes, quantities start at 1 and go up to 25 per order line. That makes it easy to test colours with one copy before ordering a run for a market stall or online shop. For editions larger than 25, request a price through Get a Quote.

Do you prepare artwork for art prints?

You can supply your own print-ready files for free, or choose the Professional artwork and design service for £36.00 if you need layout help, such as adding a border, title or signature line. For questions about colours or file setup, speak to our team before you order.

Asked by buyers 22

Is 350gsm Recycled Uncoated or 300gsm Premium Smooth White Paper better for illustrations?

Both work. The 350gsm Recycled Uncoated stock is the heavier of the two and has an uncoated surface. The 300gsm Premium Smooth White Paper is a smooth white stock. The right one depends on your style and how you like the colours to sit. Order one of each to compare side by side.

Which paper should I use for photography?

Many photographers lean towards the 300gsm Premium Smooth White Paper for its smooth white surface. If you want an uncoated presentation, try 350gsm Recycled Uncoated and compare the two. For photos you want ready to hang without a frame, see Canvas Print.

Can I write or sign on the back of the print?

Yes. The reverse is left unprinted, as every print is single sided, so you can sign, number or date it by hand. Test your pen on a single copy first, since ink behaves differently on uncoated and smooth stocks.

Which size fits a standard frame?

A4 and A3 are common frame sizes in UK shops, and A5 fits many small desk frames. If you want a mount around the print, buy a frame one size up with a mount cut for your print size. For an odd size, send the dimensions through our quote form.

Can I order different sizes of the same artwork?

Yes, add each size to your cart as its own line. Many artists sell A5 as an entry-level piece, A4 as the main print and A3 as the premium option. Set the paper on each line too, so the whole range matches or deliberately differs.

Is there an A2 heavyweight art print?

A2 is not in the Size dropdown here, which stops at A3. For bigger prints, our Indoor Posters go up to A1 on a wide choice of papers, including 300gsm Premium Smooth White Paper. That is a good route for larger reproductions.

How much does the price drop per print?

A lot as you add copies. On the cheapest combination, one print is the starting price, ten come to £28.94 and the total for 25 is only around double the price of one. That makes small editions far better value than single copies, so plan your run before ordering.

Do A3 prints cost more than A4?

Larger sizes generally cost more, and the paper choice affects the price too. The quickest way to compare is to set your quantity, then switch between A5, A4 and A3 in the configurator and watch the live total change. Browse other print products in the online print shop while you compare.

Can I mix different artworks in one order?

Each cart line carries one artwork, so add a separate line for each design. That way every print gets the right file, size and paper. If you have a large set of different artworks for an exhibition, see our poster printing in Manchester page for larger display pieces too.

What colour mode should my art file be in?

Supply a print-ready PDF at the finished size, with images at a high enough resolution for the size you are ordering. Screen colours can look different on paper, especially bright blues and greens, so expect some variation. For help preparing a scan of your original, contact us.

Should I add a white border to my print?

A white border can make a print easier to frame and gives the artwork breathing room. Build it into your file at the finished size, or ask the design service to add one for you. Borders also leave space for a title or signature underneath the image.

Can you scan my original painting?

Scanning originals is not listed as an option on this product. Bring a high-resolution scan or photo of the painting, and it can be printed as your artwork. If you want advice on getting a good digital copy of a large original, speak to us through the Web Print Signs team.

How do I order heavyweight art prints?

Choose your size, paper type and quantity, and watch the price update as you go. Pick your artwork option, add to cart and pay by card at checkout. Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted through Stripe.

Can a gallery or shop order prints for resale?

Yes. Galleries, shops and online sellers order prints to sell on, either one artwork at a time or as a set. For regular repeat orders or editions above 25 per design, a quote can be easier to manage; send the details via Get a Quote.

Can I collect art prints in person?

Yes, collection is available from Unit 3, 116 Bury New Road, Manchester M8 8EB. It is useful when you want to check prints before an exhibition. UK delivery is also offered, with the cost shown at checkout. See the areas we cover for local towns.

Can prints be sent straight to my customer?

Yes, enter your customer's address at checkout and the order goes to them. UK delivery is available, and the price is shown before you pay. If you sell online, it is worth ordering a sample for yourself first so you know exactly what your buyer will receive.

Are heavyweight art prints good for an exhibition?

Yes, they are made for showing fine art, photography and illustration at close range. Pair framed A3 prints on the walls with A5 copies for sale at the desk. For exhibition banners and signage, see our exhibition graphics service.

Can I sell art prints at markets and craft fairs?

They are a popular choice for stallholders, as A5 and A4 prints are easy to carry and price. Because the cost per print drops with quantity, ordering 10 to 25 of your bestsellers keeps your margin healthy. Add matching cards with our greeting card printing.

Are these suitable for certificates or awards?

A heavy paper suits certificates that will be framed or kept, and A4 is the usual certificate size. For larger certificate runs with names on each, our dedicated certificate printing page starts from 25 copies and is set up for that job.

Can I use art prints as wall decor for a business?

Yes. Framed A3 prints of local scenes, product photos or brand illustrations are a low-cost way to finish an office, salon or café wall. For full-wall coverage, our wall graphics team prints murals sized to your space.

Can I use a heavyweight print as a menu or price list?

You can for a single framed display, such as a drinks list behind the bar. For menus handled daily by customers, a purpose-built product is better; our menu printing service covers hospitality menus in more formats.

Will a heavyweight print survive outside?

The facts for this product do not describe it as weatherproof, so keep these prints indoors or behind glass. For posters that need to face the weather, use Waterproof Posters, which come on 400gsm PVC Free or 440gsm PVC.
