Signs that work on Stalybridge streets after dark

Much of the town’s trade happens in the evening. Bars and restaurants near the station and along the canal need a sign that still reads at night: built-up letters with halo lighting, a slim LED trough light above the fascia, or an illuminated projecting sign seen from along the pavement. Unlit printed panels look tidy by day but fade once the street lights come on.

Older frontages often have timber fascias set into stone or brick, so a new sign has to respect the proportions of the building as well as your brand. Signs may need advertisement consent from the council, especially when illuminated or in a conservation area, and we check this with you before anything is made. Your landlord’s permission may also be needed.

Manufacturers and trades usually need something different: a clear name sign at the gate and directional signs so deliveries reach the right door. Sign types and materials are explained on our shop signs Manchester page.

The survey visit at your Stalybridge premises

Signs always start in person. A surveyor measures the fascia, windows and wall space, and checks what the sign will fix into: sound timber, masonry or a metal frame. We look at access too, from ladder or tower to where the van can park. The drive from our M8 office is roughly 30 to 35 minutes depending on traffic, via the M60 and M67 or through Ashton-under-Lyne. After the visit, design and approvals run by email and WhatsApp, and our fitters come back to install.

Steps from first photo to fitted sign

1

Send us a photo

A front-on photo and rough measurements let us suggest options before the survey.

2

Survey on site

We measure, check fixing points, access and power for any lighting, and talk through the wording.

3

See it on your building

We place the design on a photo of your frontage at true scale, so you can judge size and colours.

4

Confirm permissions

Before ordering, we go through advertisement consent and landlord approval with you.

5

Produce and fit

The sign is made through our production network, then our fitters remove the old sign where agreed and install the new one. Any lighting is connected by a qualified electrician.

Your quote includes

  • Fitting, sealing and a clean finish
  • Care notes for cleaning and any lighting

Sign choices for different Stalybridge businesses

  • Bars and restaurants. Halo-lit letters or a lit projecting sign for the evening, plus frosted vinyl that gives diners some privacy without hiding the room from passers-by.
  • Independent shops. A clean fascia with the name and one line on what you sell, and window graphics showing opening hours and your website.
  • Manufacturers and trades. A large panel sign visible from the road, gate and door signs, and directional signs inside the site for drivers.
  • Care providers. Calm, readable signs with the service name, an entrance visitors can find easily and privacy vinyl on ground floor windows.
  • Anyone with a van. Matching the van livery to the shop helps people recognise you across Tameside.

For lit options see our illuminated signs, and for glass, our window graphics service.

What do customers ask before ordering?

Can you survey our Stalybridge bar outside opening hours?

We can usually arrange an early or late survey by agreement, which suits venues that only open in the evening. We need safe access to the fascia and windows, and fitting times are agreed the same way to keep disruption low.

Our building sits beside the canal. Does that change anything?

It can affect access. If the frontage is above a towpath or has little parking nearby, we plan how the fitters and equipment reach it and whether a tower is needed. We note this at the survey and include it in the quote, so the fitting day runs as planned.

How much power does an LED sign use?

LED modules and trough lights use far less power than older fluorescent tubes. We can fit a timer so the sign switches off after closing, and we tell you the wattage of the lighting we quote, so you can work out running costs for yourself before you decide.

Can the sign match our existing branding?

Yes. Send your logo files, ideally as SVG, EPS or PDF, plus any colour references. If you only have a low resolution logo, we can redraw it so it stays sharp at fascia size, and we confirm colours with you before production starts.

Do you make A-boards and pavement signs as well?

Yes. A-boards help bars and shops whose door is set back or round a corner. We print both faces, and can supply chalkboard-style panels for changing menus. Pavement boards may need permission, so we raise it with you before you order one.

Shop sign work in nearby towns

We fit signs nearby too, with pages for shop signs in Ashton-under-Lyne, Hyde shop signs and shop signs in Denton. The Manchester shop signs page covers the full range, and our services in Stalybridge page lists the web, app and AI work we also do in the town.

WhatsApp us a photo of your frontage with your business name, and we will arrange a survey and send a fixed quote. Get a shop sign quote, phone 0161 315 1151 or message 07737 902425.
