Why Droylsden signs fade

Lightboxes on the parades along Ashton New Road face the street all day and are lit late into the evening. Years of sunlight fade printed colours, and acrylic faces go yellow and brittle. Cracks start around fixing points and spread. A sign like that tells passers-by the business is not looking after itself, even when the food or service is good.

New faces are also the quickest way to put your name on a unit that came with a working sign box. Keeping the box avoids new holes, new wiring and the cost of a full sign. Our sign face replacement Manchester page explains the service.

Measuring up locally

Droylsden is roughly 15 to 25 minutes from our office along the A662 or via the M60, depending on traffic. Many signs can be measured from photos with a tape measure visible, but high or projecting boxes are best measured in person so the new face fits the frame exactly.

Faces that survive a busy parade

Signs close to the pavement get knocked by deliveries, ladders and the occasional thrown object. Polycarbonate faces are far tougher than acrylic and are worth choosing for low signs and projecting boxes. They cost a little more but last much longer on a busy street.

Takeaway signs often carry a lot of detail: menus, phone numbers, delivery app logos. On a lit face, small text and busy layouts become hard to read from across the road. We keep the essentials large and clear, so the sign does its job from the street, and suggest putting menus and smaller details on the window instead.

We do not repair lighting. If tubes or LEDs have failed, a qualified electrician needs to fix them, and we fit the face once they have. For a new sign instead, see illuminated signs or LED signs, and the shop signs Droylsden page.

Flat fascias without lighting can usually be refreshed with new vinyl over the cleaned panel, which is quick and leaves the panel and its fixings in place.

When you send photos, include a close-up of the edge of the frame. That shows whether the face slides out from the side, sits behind a clip-on trim or is screwed in from the front, which tells us how the swap will be done.

What do customers ask before ordering?

Can you change my Droylsden takeaway sign without closing?

Yes. We can fit during quieter hours or in the evening by arrangement, so you keep trading.

Which material should I choose?

Polycarbonate for low or exposed signs, because it resists knocks. Acrylic is fine for higher signs and keeps its colour well.

Can you add a new phone number only?

Often yes on non-illuminated fascias. On a printed lightbox face, the whole face usually needs replacing.

Do you fix sign lights?

No. We replace faces and vinyl only. Lighting faults need a qualified electrician.

What if the box is rusted?

If the frame is badly rusted or the trims are broken, a new face will not last. We will say so and quote for a new sign instead.

Can you put the menu on the window?

Yes. Window vinyl is a good place for menus and opening hours, keeping the main sign simple and clear.
