Middleton signs that need refreshing

Takeaways and shops around Middleton Shopping Centre often have lightboxes lit for long hours, and years of use show: faded colours, yellowed acrylic, cracks around the trims. Trade counters on the estates near the M60 and M62 have signs that fade in the sun and can look neglected to customers arriving to collect orders.

In most cases the box, fixings and lighting are fine. New faces make the sign look new without new fixings or wiring. Our sign face replacement Manchester page explains more.

Nearby, so easy to measure

Middleton is roughly 15 to 20 minutes from our office along the A576 through Crumpsall and Blackley, depending on traffic. We can measure on site, or work from photos with a tape measure across the face for simpler signs.

Keeping a takeaway sign readable

A takeaway sign has a few seconds to be read by someone driving past. Faded faces lose contrast, and busy layouts with menus, prices and logos crowded together become unreadable at night. When we set up a new face, we keep the name and phone number large and clear, use strong contrast that stays readable when lit, and suggest putting the menu and delivery app logos on the window instead.

Lit faces also need the right material and inks. Some colours look very different backlit than they do in daylight, especially deep reds and blues, so we choose materials made for illuminated signs and check the colours before production.

Signs close to the pavement get knocked, so polycarbonate is worth considering for low boxes and projecting signs.

We do not touch electrics. If your sign is dark or flickering, a qualified electrician needs to repair it, and we fit the new face afterwards. For a new sign, see illuminated signs or LED signs, and shop signs Middleton.

Flat fascias without lighting are often refreshed with new vinyl instead. We strip the old lettering and its adhesive, clean the panel and apply new cut or printed vinyl. It takes a few hours, needs no new holes and gives the shop a new look straight away.

Gate signs and totems on the estates usually have panels that slide out of a channel. We check how yours is built before making anything, so the new panel drops in without having to take the structure apart.

What do customers ask before ordering?

Can you change my Middleton takeaway sign in the evening?

Yes. We can fit during quieter hours, in the evening or at weekends.

Can you match my brand colours when lit?

We use materials made for illuminated signs and check colours before production so they look right lit and unlit.

Can you replace a gate sign panel on our estate unit?

Yes. We measure the panel and make a replacement to fit the existing frame.

Do you fix sign lighting?

No. Faces and vinyl only. Lighting faults need a qualified electrician.

Should the menu go on the sign?

Usually not. Menus are better on the window, where people can read them close up, keeping the main sign clear.

What if the box is damaged?

We will tell you if the frame is too damaged for a new face and quote for a new sign instead.
