Measuring

Hanging signs and painted fascias in the old town

Hanging signs suit Stockport’s older streets and are a big part of their character. As double-sided signs, they fade unevenly, so we replace both faces together for a matching finish, and check the bracket and hanging points while the sign is down.

Many old town shops have painted timber fascias with vinyl lettering. Refreshing these is straightforward: the old lettering comes off, the board is cleaned and new lettering goes on in your current branding. If the paint itself is tired, repainting the board first gives the best result, and we can advise when we see it.

Lightboxes on trade units and takeaways need faces made for illuminated signs, so colours look right lit and unlit. Polycarbonate faces are worth considering for low signs, as they resist knocks far better than acrylic.

When you send photos, include one straight on, one from the side and a close-up of the edge trim. These tell us how the face is held in and whether it can be changed from the front, which helps us quote accurately without a visit.

When we fit a new lightbox face, we also clean inside the box. Dust and insects inside show through a new face once it is lit, so a quick clean makes a visible difference.
