Leigh signs worth refacing

High street lightboxes in the town centre see a lot of sun on south-facing frontages, and a decade of it turns reds pink and whites cream. Sport and leisure businesses around Leigh Sports Village often have large signs that need updating when sponsors, names or logos change, and replacing the face is much faster than a new structure.

Units at the mill and along the A580 often inherit sign frames from the previous tenant. Keeping the frame and changing the face gives a new business its name on the building quickly. More on the service is on our sign face replacement Manchester page.

Getting the size right

A replacement face has to drop into the existing frame with no gaps and no forcing. Many signs can be sized from a straight photo with a tape measure across them; larger or high signs we measure in person. Leigh is roughly 35 to 45 minutes from our office along the A580, depending on traffic.

Our method

1

Size and fixing

We record dimensions and how the face is held, by channel, trim or screws.

2

Artwork sign-off

We send a scaled visual of the new face for your approval.

3

Fixed price

One figure covers making and fitting.

4

Manufacture

The face is printed or cut through our production network.

5

Changeover

The old face comes out, the box is cleaned inside and the new face goes in.

What you get

  • Acrylic, polycarbonate or flex faces cut to your frame
  • Printed or cut vinyl for flat fascias and boards
  • Artwork redrawn or updated as needed
  • Fitting, using access equipment where required
  • Removal of the old faces

Big signs, sponsors and changing logos

Large signs at clubs, gyms and leisure venues are often flex-face lightboxes: a printed fabric skin stretched across a frame. These are ideal for refacing, because the new skin can be printed in one piece and tensioned into the existing frame without rebuilding the box. When a sponsor or brand changes, only the skin needs to change.

Rigid acrylic faces work better for smaller signs and keep their colour well. For signs within reach of the street or a busy car park, polycarbonate is the tougher option.

Before we fit, we clean inside the box, since dust and insects inside a lightbox show through a new face once it is lit. If any lamps or LED modules are out, a qualified electrician needs to sort them; we do not do electrical work. For entirely new signs, see illuminated signs and LED signs, or shop signs Leigh for local shopfronts.

Flat painted or panel fascias on the high street can be refreshed with new vinyl lettering over the cleaned panel, a quick change that needs no new holes in the wall.

What do customers ask before ordering?

Our Leigh club sign has a fabric face. Can you replace it?

Yes. Flex faces are printed in one piece and tensioned into the existing frame, which suits large signs very well.

Can you change a sponsor panel only?

Often, yes, if the sponsor sits on a separate panel or section. Send photos and we will tell you what is possible.

How long will a new face last?

It depends on the material and how much sun the sign gets. Faces made for illuminated signs keep their colour for years in normal conditions.

Do you repair lights inside the sign?

No. Faces and vinyl only. Any lighting faults need a qualified electrician first.

Can you fit around match days or events?

Yes. We book around your fixtures and can work evenings or weekends.

Is a flat fascia worth re-lettering?

If the panel is sound, yes. New vinyl over a cleaned panel changes the frontage quickly with no new fixings.
