Why careful removal matters for Ashton vans

A lot of the vans based around Ashton work hard: deliveries to the market, runs to Ashton Moss and the trade estates near junction 23 of the M60, jobs across Tameside. Graphics on those vans take a beating from weather, washing and sun, and after a few years the vinyl is brittle. Ripped off quickly it splinters into tiny pieces and leaves a layer of glue that attracts dirt.

Taking it off properly is slower but the result is a van that looks like a plain vehicle again. That matters when you sell it privately, part-exchange it or hand it back on a lease, because buyers and lease companies look closely at the panels. The full service is set out on our van livery removal Manchester page.

Quotes from photos, work by arrangement

You do not need to bring the van anywhere to get a price. Photograph each side, the rear doors and the bonnet, plus a close-up of any cracked or faded vinyl, and send them by WhatsApp or email with the make and model. We reply with a fixed quote.

Ashton-under-Lyne is roughly 25 to 30 minutes from our office in Cheetham Hill, via the A62, the A635 or the M60 depending on traffic. We can do the work at your yard if there is safe space around the van, or you can bring it to us in M8 by arrangement.

Step by step

1

Send the photos

We check what is on the van and how old it looks.

2

Fixed price and date

You get a quote and we agree where and when.

3

Heat and lift

Each graphic is warmed so the adhesive lets go, then lifted from an edge.

4

Residue off

Glue left on the paint is removed with a paint-safe adhesive remover.

5

Clean panels

Every panel is wiped down and checked before the van goes back to you.

Included in every job

  • Removal of lettering, logos, printed panels and wraps
  • Chevrons, rear door graphics and window vinyl taken off
  • All adhesive residue removed
  • Panels cleaned and wiped
  • Waste vinyl taken away
  • Notes on any paint faults we spot along the way

Graphics that have been on for years

The older the vinyl, the more care it needs. Graphics that have sat in the sun for five years or more often crack into small squares when lifted, and the glue underneath can harden. On these vans we work in smaller sections, keep the heat gentle so the paint is not stressed, and spend more time on the residue. It is the main reason quotes vary between two vans of the same size.

Some older vans also show ghosting, a faint outline where the paint around the lettering faded and the paint underneath did not. Removal cannot change the paint colour, but we tell you from the photos if ghosting is likely. If you plan to rebrand the van, new vehicle lettering or a van wrap can cover the old area.

What do customers ask before ordering?

Can you strip a van at our unit near Ashton Moss?

Yes, if there is safe, reasonably sheltered space to work around the whole van. If not, the van can come to our office in M8 by arrangement.

We have several vans to de-brand. Can you do them together?

Yes. Send photos of each van and we will quote for the batch and plan the work so the vans are off the road for as little time as possible.

Does removal damage the paint?

Carefully removed vinyl comes off factory paint without damage. Paint that has been resprayed or is already flaking can lift, and we point this out from the photos before starting.

Can you put our new branding on straight after?

Yes. Removal and new graphics can be booked as one job so the van only comes off the road once.

Covering Droylsden, Hyde and Oldham too

We remove van livery for businesses in Droylsden, Hyde and Oldham as well. The rest of our local work is listed on the Ashton-under-Lyne print and signage page.
