Why Oldham businesses de-brand their vans
Many Oldham businesses have run the same van for years, with lettering added to over time: a new phone number, a website, an accreditation logo. When the van is finally replaced, all of that has to come off. Manufacturers and trade suppliers around Hollinwood and the M60 change vans more often, frequently on lease, and lease companies want them back without graphics or glue marks.
Restaurants and takeaways around the town centre and Tommyfield Market often have delivery cars and small vans lettered with their name. When the business changes hands, or the vehicle is replaced, the old branding has to go. The method we use is set out on the van livery removal Manchester page.
Quotes and visits
We price removal from photos. Take one of each side, the back and the front, plus a close-up of the most weathered graphic, and send them with the make and model. We reply with a fixed quote.
Oldham is roughly 20 to 25 minutes from our office along Oldham Road (the A62), depending on traffic. We can work at your premises if there is safe space around the van, or you can bring it to our office in M8 by arrangement.
If you have several vans, send photos of each. Fleets are often easiest done at your yard over one or two visits.

Vans that have been lettered for years
A van that has carried the same lettering for ten years or more is a different job from one lettered last year. The vinyl has hardened, the colours have faded, and the adhesive has bonded more firmly to the paint. Removed carelessly, it breaks into hundreds of tiny pieces. We work in small sections with steady, gentle heat, and accept that it takes longer, because rushing it leaves a mess and risks the paint.
Lettering that has been added to over the years needs extra care. Each addition sits on top of what was there before, so we remove the top layers first and check the paint as each layer comes away.
On older vans, the paint that was covered by lettering has been protected from the sun while the rest of the van faded. Once the vinyl is off, a faint outline can sometimes be seen. Removal cannot change the colour of the paint, but we tell you from the photos whether this is likely, so there are no surprises.
If the replacement van needs your branding, we can apply it in the same booking with vehicle lettering, or create a fuller design with van graphics.
What do customers ask before ordering?
Can you remove graphics at our premises in Oldham?
Yes, if there is safe space around the van, ideally off the road and out of the rain. Otherwise the van can come to our office in M8 by arrangement.
Our van has had lettering for over ten years. Can it still come off cleanly?
Yes. Old vinyl takes longer and comes off in smaller pieces, but the adhesive can still be cleared fully. We price for the extra time from your photos.
Will removal damage the paint?
Factory paint is left as it was. Resprayed or flaking paint can lift, and we point this out before starting.
Can you do our restaurant’s delivery cars as well?
Yes. Car door logos and rear graphics are removed the same way, and the panels cleaned.
How long will it take?
It depends on the amount and age of the vinyl. We give you a realistic time with the quote.
Can new lettering go on in the same booking?
Often, yes. Removal and new branding can be booked together so the van is off the road only once.
