Old branding on Bury vans

Bury is full of businesses that live out of their vans: market traders bringing stock to Bury Market, builders and electricians working across the borough, caterers, cleaners and delivery firms. When a van changes hands the lettering has to go, otherwise a stranger drives around with your name and phone number on the side.

Vans parked in the open all year take a lot of sun and rain, and graphics that have been on for years become hard and brittle. Pulled off without heat, they shatter into small pieces and leave adhesive behind. A careful removal takes longer but leaves the paint as it was. The method is explained on our van livery removal Manchester page.

Straight up Bury New Road

Our office is on Bury New Road, the same road that runs north into Bury, roughly 25 to 35 minutes by car depending on traffic. Most removal jobs are quoted from photos sent by WhatsApp or email, and the work can be done at your premises if there is safe space, or at ours in M8 by arrangement.

For the photos, take each side, the back doors and the bonnet, plus a close-up of the oldest graphic. Add the make and model and roughly when the van was lettered.

How it is done

1

Photos and questions

We look at the graphics and ask about anything we cannot see.

2

Fixed quote

One price for the van, with a date and place agreed.

3

Warm and lift

Vinyl is warmed until the adhesive softens, then lifted from an edge.

4

Slow peel

It is pulled back at a low angle so it comes away from the paint cleanly.

5

Clean up

Residue is removed with a paint-safe remover and panels wiped before handover.

Included

  • All lettering, logos and printed panels removed
  • Part and full wraps taken off
  • Rear door graphics, chevrons and window vinyl stripped
  • Glue and residue cleared from every panel
  • Panels wiped clean
  • Waste taken away

Market traders and tradespeople changing vans

For a one-van business, the van is often the main advert as well as the tool of the trade, so changing vehicles usually means moving the branding from old to new. We can strip the outgoing van and letter the new one in a single booking, so you are not working without a branded van for long. New lettering is covered by our vehicle lettering service and full designs by van graphics.

If the old van is going back to a lease company, check the return conditions. Most ask for no graphics and no adhesive marks, and some inspect closely. Book the removal with a few days to spare before collection, so there is time to sort anything unexpected.

Weekend and evening slots can be arranged for traders who are on the market or on site all week.

What do customers ask before ordering?

Can you strip my van at home in Bury?

Often yes, if there is room to work safely around the van and it is not on a busy road. Otherwise we can do it at our office in M8 by arrangement.

I trade at the market all week. Can you work at a weekend?

Yes. Weekend and evening removal can be booked by arrangement so the van is not off the road on trading days.

How long will my van take?

It depends on how much vinyl there is and how old it is. Newer lettering comes off quickly, while an old wrap takes much longer. We give a realistic time with the quote.

Will there be an outline of the old lettering?

On older vans a faint outline can show where the paint around the lettering faded. The glue is always removed, and we tell you from the photos if an outline is likely.

Can you remove magnetic signs and stickers too?

Yes. Magnetic signs are lifted off and the panel cleaned underneath, and small stickers and decals come off with the rest.

Do you take the old vinyl away?

Yes. All removed vinyl and backing goes with us, and the area is left tidy.

Prestwich, Heywood, Bolton and Rochdale

We remove van livery for businesses in Prestwich, Heywood, Bolton and Rochdale too. Our other local services are on the Bury print and signage page.
