Signs on Ashton New Road and around

Droylsden’s shops are mostly in older parades along Ashton New Road and the streets near the Metrolink stop, with workshops and small industrial units around the edges of town. Parade shops usually have a fascia over the window, often with a lightbox, while workshops tend to have a panel or lettering fixed to brick or metal cladding.

Older parades often have signs fixed over earlier signs, and timber fascia boards that have been drilled many times. We take each layer off in turn and look at what holds it. The sign removal Manchester page describes the service in general.

Quick to reach

Droylsden is roughly 15 to 25 minutes from our office along the A662 or via the M60, depending on traffic, so a survey visit is simple to arrange. Small signs can often be priced from photos. High, lit or projecting signs need a visit so we can check fixings, power and access.

Removal steps

1

Check the sign

We look at size, fixings and height, from photos or on site.

2

Fixed quote

One price covers removal and disposal.

3

Make it safe

Lit signs are isolated by a qualified electrician before we start.

4

Take it down

Panels, letters and brackets are unfixed and lowered safely.

5

Clear the site

Fixings come out, waste goes with us and the area is swept.

What you get

  • Fascia panels, lightboxes and letters removed
  • Projecting signs and brackets taken off
  • Window vinyl and old film scraped from the glass
  • Access equipment for high signs
  • All waste taken away
  • Photos of the frontage once clear

Takeaway lightboxes and workshop panels

Takeaways often have a long lightbox across the fascia, sometimes with a separate projecting box. These are heavier than they look and are wired into the building, so a qualified electrician must isolate the supply first. Once that is done, we remove the face, unfix the box from the wall and lower it, keeping the pavement clear of people while we work.

Workshop and industrial units are usually simpler but higher. Panels fixed to cladding come off with their fixings, and we take care not to tear the cladding sheet. Where lettering is applied straight to a roller shutter or a door, we remove the vinyl and clean off the glue.

New tenant? We can take the old sign down and fit yours as one job, using shop signs and fascia signs. The shop signs Droylsden page covers new signs locally.

Leaving a unit? Check your lease for what the landlord expects on the frontage. Some want the fascia board kept, others want it back to the brickwork.

Inside the unit, old menu boards, wall panels and window posters often need clearing as well. We can take these down in the same visit, so the new tenant walks into a clean space.

What do customers ask before ordering?

Can you remove a takeaway lightbox in Droylsden in the evening?

Yes, once the supply is isolated. Evening and weekend work can be arranged so the pavement is quieter.

Do you do electrical disconnection?

No. A qualified electrician must isolate the supply first. We remove the sign once that is done.

Can you remove lettering from a roller shutter?

Yes. Vinyl on shutters and doors can be removed and the glue cleaned off.

What happens to the old sign?

Everything we remove goes with us, including panels, boxes, brackets and fixings.

Will the wall need repairs?

Old fixings leave holes, and boards can be weak behind a sign. We show you what is there and point out repairs needed before a new sign goes up.

Is there anything I need to arrange?

For lit signs, an electrician to isolate the supply. For rented premises, a quick check with the landlord. We handle the rest.
