Sign Removal Oldham

Oldham shops, restaurants and factory units change hands regularly, and the old sign needs to come down before the next business moves in. We remove fascias, lightboxes, letters, projecting signs and window vinyl, including signs high on industrial buildings, and take everything away, leaving the frontage clear.

Oldham frontages and their signs

Around Spindles Town Square and Tommyfield Market, Oldham’s town centre mixes older buildings with shopping centre units. Older shops often have a timber fascia board under the sign, sometimes with several earlier signs layered on top. Restaurants and takeaways commonly have long lightboxes and projecting boxes. In Hollinwood and the industrial areas near the M60, manufacturers and trade firms have larger signs on brick or cladding.

The way each sign is fixed decides how it comes down safely. Our sign removal Manchester page describes the general service.

Survey and quoting

Oldham is roughly 20 to 25 minutes from our office along the A62, depending on traffic. Small fascias and window vinyl can usually be priced from photos. Lit signs, projecting signs and anything high up need a visit, so we can check fixings, power and where access equipment can stand.

If you have more than one site, for example several branches or units, we can survey them in one trip.

Restaurant lightboxes and layered fascias

Restaurants and takeaways in Oldham often have a long lightbox across the frontage plus a projecting box, both wired into the building. A qualified electrician must isolate the supply before we touch them. Once that is done, we take out the faces, unfix the boxes and lower them, keeping the pavement clear of people while we work.

Layered fascias are common on older parades. A modern panel might be screwed over an older lightbox, which is itself fixed over the original painted board. We remove each layer in turn, checking what holds it, so nothing comes away unexpectedly and the board underneath is not torn off the wall.

On industrial buildings, the work is higher and the signs larger. Letters on cladding are removed one fixing at a time so the sheet is not torn, and we agree with the site where access equipment can stand and how vehicles will pass.

Taking on the unit? We can remove the old sign and fit yours in one job with our shop signs and fascia signs services. The shop signs Oldham page covers new signs in the town.

Window lettering and old posters are usually cleared in the same visit. We soften the vinyl, scrape it off with blades made for glass and clean away the adhesive, so the glass is ready for the next business.

What do customers ask before ordering?

Can you remove signs from a unit in Spindles Town Square?

Yes. Shopping centres set rules for contractors, so we check those with you and centre management before booking.

Do you disconnect lit signs?

No. A qualified electrician isolates the supply. We remove the sign once it is safe.

What if there are old signs under mine?

We remove each layer in turn. If we find more than expected from the photos, we tell you before carrying on.

Can you work in the evening?

Yes. Evening and weekend removal can be arranged.

Will the wall need repairs?

Old fixings leave holes and boards can be weak. We show you what is there and point out any repairs needed.

Do you take the waste?

Yes. Everything we remove goes with us.
