High street shops and trade buildings

Around Church Street and the shopping centre, Eccles has a mix of older shops and newer units, many with fascias that have been replaced several times over the years. Towards the M60, M602 and Trafford Park, buildings are larger: trade counters and warehouses with big panels or individual letters fixed high up on cladding.

Each type needs a different approach and different access equipment. Our sign removal Manchester page describes the service in general, and below is what we look at on Eccles jobs.

Surveying before we book

Eccles is roughly 20 to 25 minutes from our office via the M602 or the A57, depending on traffic. Simple shop fascias can usually be priced from photos. Signs on trade buildings, lit signs and anything projecting over a pavement need a visit to check the fixings, power, access and ground conditions for equipment.

Letters on cladding and big panels

Trade buildings near the motorway often have individual letters or a long panel fixed to profiled metal cladding several metres up. Taking these down needs a plan: where the access equipment can stand, whether part of a yard or car park has to be closed off, and how long panels are lowered without swinging into the building.

Letters on cladding are usually fixed through the cladding with rivets or bolts and locating studs. We remove each fixing so the cladding is not torn, and leave the holes visible so the landlord or the next tenant knows exactly what is there. Some holes can be sealed with suitable caps, and we can point out where that would help.

In the town centre, shop fascias are lower but the pavements are busier. We fence off the working area, keep the footway open where we can, and work outside busy times when needed.

Moving in? We can remove the old sign and fit yours as one job with our shop signs and fascia signs services. The shop signs Eccles page covers new signs in the town.

Old window lettering and film on Eccles shopfronts often outlasts the business behind it. We soften and scrape it off with blades made for glass, then clean away the adhesive so the windows are clear for the next tenant or ready for new graphics.

What do customers ask before ordering?

Can you take down signs from a trade unit near Trafford Park?

Yes. We survey first to plan access equipment and any yard closures, then remove the sign safely.

Will removing letters damage our cladding?

Fixings leave holes in cladding. We remove them carefully so the sheet is not torn, and point out where holes may need sealing.

Do you do the electrical disconnection?

No. A qualified electrician must isolate the supply. We remove the sign once it is safe.

Can you work at a weekend?

Yes. Evening and weekend removal can be arranged, which often suits busy yards and shopping streets.

Do you take the waste away?

Yes. Everything we remove leaves with us.

Do I need to tell my landlord?

It is wise to. Many leases have rules about signs and the frontage, so check what the landlord expects before we start.
