School Road is Sale’s main shopping street, with independent shops, food and drink, salons and clinics in a mix of older and newer buildings, and more units around The Square shopping centre. Fascias here range from timber boards with painted or vinyl lettering to aluminium trays and lightboxes, and windows often carry years of lettering from previous tenants.

Getting a quote

Sale is roughly 30 to 35 minutes from our office via the A56 or the M60, depending on traffic. Simple fascias and window lettering can often be priced from photos. Lit signs, hanging signs and anything high are best seen in person.

Salons and clinics moving on

Salons, beauty clinics and therapy rooms are common on School Road and change hands often. Besides the fascia, they usually have frosted film on the windows for privacy, lettering on the door, and sometimes a hanging sign. We take all of it down in one visit, so the new tenant starts with clear glass and a bare fascia.

Frosted film that has been on the glass for years can be stubborn. We soften it, peel or scrape it off with blades made for glass, and clean away the adhesive, which is often the slowest part of the job.

Behind the fascia sign there is usually a timber board. Once the sign is off, we show you its condition, so you know whether the next sign can go straight on or whether the board needs repair first.

Restaurants and takeaways may have a lightbox wired into the building. Your electrician isolates the supply first, then we remove the face, unfix the box and lower it carefully, keeping the pavement on School Road fenced off while we work. Projecting boxes come down the same way, with their brackets checked and either removed or left for the next sign.

Signs on the upper floor, such as a first floor office name board, need access equipment and a little more planning. We look at where equipment can stand on the pavement and whether we need to work at a quieter time.
