Sign Removal Heywood
Warehouses and trade units in Heywood are re-let regularly, and town centre shops change hands too. Each time, the old sign has to come down. We remove panels, letters, lightboxes, projecting signs and window vinyl, including signs high on warehouse cladding, and take everything away so the building is ready for its next occupier.

Warehouse signs and shop fascias
On Heywood Distribution Park, signs are big and high: long panels or individual letters fixed to profiled metal cladding above loading doors and offices, plus totems at the gate. In the town centre, shops and takeaways have smaller fascias, often with a lightbox, fixed to older brick buildings.
Both need the right equipment and the right method for what the sign is fixed to. Our sign removal Manchester page sets out the service in general.
Survey and quote
Heywood is roughly 25 to 30 minutes from our office via the M60 and M66 or through Middleton, depending on traffic. Small shop signs can often be priced from photos. Warehouse signs need a visit, so we can check heights, fixings, ground conditions and how the yard is used, before planning access equipment.

Working safely in a busy yard
Distribution sites rarely stop. Lorries and vans move in and out, and forklifts may be working nearby. Before we start, we agree with the site manager where access equipment will stand, how that area is fenced off and how traffic will be routed around it. Where it is quieter at certain times, we book the work for those hours, including evenings and weekends.
Letters and panels on cladding are fixed through the sheet. We remove each fixing so the cladding is not torn and leave the holes visible, so the landlord knows what needs sealing. Totem faces can be taken out without removing the structure if the next tenant wants to reuse it.
Incoming tenants can have the old sign removed and the new one fitted in one job, using our shop signs and fascia signs services. The shop signs Heywood page covers new signs locally.
Useful to have ready
- Photos of each sign and the yard around it
- The site’s contractor rules or induction requirements
- Details of who isolates the power for lit signs
- What the landlord expects the building to look like afterwards
Town centre jobs are smaller but need just as much care. Takeaway lightboxes are heavier than they look and are wired in, so the supply must be isolated first. Fascia boards on older buildings may be soft behind the sign, so we take the sign off gently and show you what condition the board is in before anyone fits the next one.
What do customers ask before ordering?
Can you remove signs at a Heywood distribution unit without stopping operations?
Usually, yes. We fence off our working area and plan around traffic, or work in quieter hours.
Do you follow site inductions and permits?
Yes. Send us your contractor rules and we will follow them, including inductions and permit to work systems.
Will removing letters damage the cladding?
Fixings leave holes. We remove them carefully so the sheet is not torn and point out holes that may need sealing.
Do you disconnect illuminated signs?
No. A qualified electrician must isolate the supply first, and then we remove the sign.
Can you remove a shop sign in the town centre too?
Yes. Town centre fascias and lightboxes are removed the same way, with the pavement kept safe.
What happens to the old sign?
We take it away, including panels, letters and fixings.
