Middleton signs, town centre and estates

Middleton Shopping Centre and the streets around it have shops and takeaways with fascias and lightboxes, some on older buildings with timber boards behind the sign. On the industrial estates near the M60 and M62, trade counters, manufacturers and distributors have larger panels and letters on cladding, often well above head height.

Each needs its own method and equipment. Our sign removal Manchester page explains the general service, and below is what we look out for in Middleton.

Close enough for a quick survey

Middleton is roughly 15 to 20 minutes from our office along the A576, depending on traffic, so we can usually look at a sign soon after you get in touch. Small fascias can be priced from photos; high, lit or projecting signs are best seen in person.

Takeaway signs and trade counters

Takeaway lightboxes are often long, heavy and wired in, sometimes with a second box projecting over the pavement. Once your electrician has isolated the supply, we remove the face, unfix the box and lower it, keeping the pavement clear. Brackets for projecting boxes are checked and either removed or left for your new sign.

Trade counters on the estates usually have a long fascia panel or letters on cladding over the entrance, plus a sign on the gate or a totem. Letters on cladding are removed one fixing at a time, so the sheet is not torn. On busy sites we agree with the site manager where equipment goes and how vehicles get past.

Shopping centre units have their own rules on contractors and working hours. We check those with you and the centre before booking.

Moving in? We can take the old sign down and fit yours as one job with our shop signs and fascia signs services. Local details are on shop signs Middleton.

Older buildings near the town centre sometimes have a timber fascia board that has been reused by several businesses. Once the sign is off, we show you the board. If it is sound, the next sign can go straight onto it; if it is soft or split, it is better replaced before a new sign is fitted, so the new sign is not let down by what it is fixed to.

Window vinyl is usually part of the job too. Old lettering and posters on the glass are softened, scraped off with glass blades and the adhesive cleaned away, so the windows are clear for the next business.

What do customers ask before ordering?

How quickly can you look at a sign in Middleton?

Middleton is one of the nearest towns to us, so a survey is usually easy to arrange. We agree a time when you get in touch.

Do you remove signs from shopping centre units?

Yes. We follow the centre’s rules on hours and paperwork.

Do you disconnect the power?

No. A qualified electrician must isolate the supply before we remove a lit sign.

Can you leave the bracket for my projecting sign?

Yes, if it is sound. We check its fixings and leave it ready.

Can the work be done out of hours?

Yes. Evening and weekend removal can be arranged.

What happens to the old sign?

We take it away with all the fixings, unless you want to keep it.
